MONTEREY, Calif. — The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is gaining traction with America’s Tire coming onboard as title sponsor of the event.
The race will now be known as the America’s Tire 250.
America’s Tire and the Sports Car Racing Ass’n of the Monterey Peninsula announced a two-year agreement for the events in 2017 and 2018. The America’s Tire 250 will occur on Sunday, Sept. 24. The sprint will involve the main classes that comprise the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship: Prototype, Prototype Challenge, GT Le Mans and GT Daytona.
In addition to the racing action in store at this event, the event will also feature Military Appreciation Day and the continued celebration of the 60th anniversary of the iconic road course.
The nationwide tire and wheel retailer owned by The Reinalt-Thomas Corporation, known largely as America’s Tire in California and Discount Tire in other states, has over 950 stores across 33 states and serves more than 100 neighborhoods in California.
