The second round of the International GT Open will take place at Paul Ricard next weekend and the Drivex-entered Mercedes AMG GT3 is a favourite in the Pro-Am class. Marcelo Hahn and Allam Khodair claimed their first win of the season at Estoril and the Spain-based team and their drivers feel extremely optimistic ahead of Round 2.
There are novelties in the driver line-up for the upcoming weekend. Allam Khodair, who usually teams up with Marcelo Hahn in the Drivex Mercedes, will skip the French venue due to other commitments in the Stock Car Brasil. Therefore, his fellow country man and Formula Renault Vice-Champion Alan Hellmeister will share the driving duties with Hahn. The same pairing already took Pro-Am honours last year. They also stepped third onto the overall podium. In preseason, Drivex posted a new GT3 lap record at Paul Ricard.
Hahn sits fourth in the Pro-Am class. Besides, it’s worth mentioning that the duo of Drivex will serve an extra ten-second time handicap after winning in Estoril.
The first 70-minute race will take place on Saturday at 16.30 (CET). Race 2 is scheduled on Sunday at 14.15 (CET).
Marcelo Hahn: “We completed a fantastic race weekend in Estoril as we scored our first victory of the season there. Of course, we are looking forward to winning again. Our goal is to continue fighting for the Pro-Am class title, so we must keep our podium streak and collect more points. Allam Khodair won’t attending this event due to his participation in the Stock Car Brasil at the same weekend, but Alan Hellmeister will be another big help. For sure, our car will be competitive. We won here last year and we set sights on the same goal this season.”
Alan Hellmeister: “It’s such a pleasure to be racing with Drivex and Marcelo at Paul Ricard once again. I’m honoured replacing my good friend Khodair and I will give my best to repeat results.”
Miguel Ángel de Castro: “We head to Le Castellet extremely motivated after our triumph at Estoril. Besides, we set a new GT3 record there in preseason and we won last year. We are convinced it will be a great weekend for Drivex.”
