TAMPA, Fla. – Rob Allaer will be back in the F2000 Championship Series this season, joining Polestar Motor Racing for a season-long campaign in the No. 52 Van Diemen/Zetec.
“I am very excited to join an absolutely fantastic group of people at Polestar for the 2018 season. We have mutual expectations of performance and results,” said Allaer.
The veteran driver, the 2014 SCCA National Champion, was among the contenders at the front of the field in 2017, with two second-place finishes over the course of a partial season campaign.
“Last year, with LTD Motorsports, we had some terrible luck and a bunch of scheduling conflicts that realistically kept us from contending for the championship, but we knew we had a terrific race car every weekend.” Allaer noted. “LTD Motorsports has been my home since I started racing in 2008, and Dave Livingston’s team is outstanding. We had many years of success, including the national championship and countless F2000 podiums and SCCA Major wins. When the opportunity presented itself for me to join my father-in-law and brother-in-law at Polestar, it was truly a gut-wrenching decision, but one I really couldn’t pass up. With three Martini / Chandon cars running under one canopy, it will now truly be a family affair.”
Moving to Polestar, Allaer becomes one of the early favorites for the Championship, but the Michigan-native will have to contend with returning champion Brandon Dixon in what is shaping up to be a competitive F2000 season.
