Mortara Gets Grid Penalty After Tub Change
The work had to be carried out after Mortara heavily rode a kerb and damaged the floor of his Venturi VM200-FE in the shakedown session yesterday afternoon.
Mortara rode the Turn 15 kerb heavily and launched his car in to the air with the damage being done when it landed on the track.
After the team assessed a crack in the monocoque it was decided to build up the spare chassis, provided by Spark Technologies.
Mortara’s best qualifying result so far this season was in the second Hong Kong race when he placed his Venturi onto the front row of the grid with the second-best time.
Since Hong Kong the Venturi driver has suffered frustration with most of his race weekends being compromised for a variety of reasons.
He set to miss two of the remaining six races as the Berlin E-Prix and New York double-header clash with his Mercedes DTM commitments.
A replacement for Mortara is expected to be communicated next month.
