Ex-F1 Designer Gascoyne Working with Dragon Racing
E-racing365 can reveal that MGI Consultancy is working with Dragon chief technical officer Nicolas Maduit on certain aspects of the Penske EV-3, which will race in the 2018-19 Formula E season.
Work is currently being carried out at MGI’s base near Oxford, UK, and is being communicated between Dragon’s day-to-day assembly base at Donington Park and Maduit’s growing design and development office in California.
MGI has had one of its engineers working with the team at races this season.
Former Team Aguri engineer Joao Correira worked with Neel Jani while deputizing for experienced former F1 and CART technical director Andy Brown in Hong Kong.
Dragon owner Jay Penske has ambitions to move his entire operation to Los Angeles in the coming years.
Gascoyne founded MGI Consultancy back in 2003 soon after finishing his role as technical director at Renault F1 Team and before he took up a similar position at Toyota Motorsport GmbH.
He had previously worked with McLaren, Sauber, Jordan and Caterham. He also enjoyed two spells at the Tyrrell F1 team in the 1990s.
Both Dragon Racing and Gascoyne declined to comment on the matter when approached by e-racing365.
