Ferrari turns 70
Ferrari has been celebrating its 70th anniversary all year across various categories and at Monza the Formula 1 team paid homage. Its paddock motorhome featured special signage, Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen donned special caps, while the SF70-H engine cover was suitably decorated.
On display
Ferrari also had a display at the entrance to the support race paddock, with an array of Formula 1 machine, sportscar and supercars. An event was hosted amid Saturday’s deluge, with Chairman Sergio Marchionne, and Vice Chairman Piero Ferrari – son of Enzo – among the luminaries.
Classic Ferraris get demo run
Several of the cars were demonstrated during Sunday’s build-up to the Formula 1 race, including the 512BB Le Mans and the Testarossa.
Honda marks 1967 triumph
Honda, meanwhile, had its RA300 on display in the Fan Zone at Monza. The RA300 won on its debut at Monza in 1967 courtesy of John Surtees, leading just one lap after Jim Clark and Sir Jack Brabham hit problems late on.
Fukuzumi fires up the car
GP3 racer Nirei Fukuzumi, backed by Honda, took the car out for a demonstration run on Sunday lunchtime, having been unable to start in his own race earlier in the day due to a technical problem.
