Audi e-tron FE05 Revealed
Audi has issued a mock-up of its Season Five car which will be known as the Audi e-tron FE05, following the official unveil of the second generation ABB FIA Formula E Championship chassis today.
The German giant, which claimed last weekend’s Mexico City E-Prix victory with Daniel Abt, took delivery of its car yesterday and will begin the build process in readiness for the first manufacturer group test in Spain later this month.
A slightly modified version of the Season Four livery was showcased by the German manufacturer today at the Geneva International Motor Show.
“In terms of technology, it proves the rapid advancement of developments in electric mobility,” said Head of Audi Motorsport Dieter Gass.
“We were all excited to see the new Formula E car,” added Allan McNish, Team Principal of Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler. “It looks breathtaking, especially with Audi’s livery.”
As well running its own test and development program for Season Five this year, Audi is also expected to provide a customer version of its powertrain to the Virgin Racing team.
E-racing365 revealed last month that Virgin is set to be one of two teams to take a customer package for the beginning of the second generation of the ABB Formula E Championship.
HWA is understood to have already made the decision to enter for one season only with a Venturi powertrain before effectively handing the slot over to Mercedes which will be a registered manufacturer for Season Six.
