Alex Little turned in another capital effort to extend his Super Truck Racing lead in the latest round at Timaru’s Levels Raceway at the weekend.
Little, from Wellington, is the son of 25-year truck racing veteran, Malcolm Little, and went in to round three on top of the overall standings on 103 points.
Second on the table is Auckland’s Troy Wheeler who was the competition leader at Levels last year.

Wheeler has raced trucks for 18 years. Little was his closest rival in 2017 and this year is proving to be no different with the two still neck-and-neck in the overall standings.
Wheeler got into truck racing on a whim, when he and three friends bought an ex-Denny Hulme Scania. He has won four B-class national titles and took out the Super Truck title in 2016.
South Canterbury Car Club promotions officer Kevin Ryan said there was a good turn-out for the event.

“We’ve had brilliant support from Timaru.
“Trust Aoraki have supported the event extremely well and made it possible.
“Without their help we wouldn’t be able to host this event, which is popular around the country.”

The truck racing attracted a field of eight and Ryan said he believe the spectator turnout was about 7000 for the two days.
Club secretary Karen Paddon said competitors from as far away as Perth travelled to Timaru to compete.
Temperatures in the mid-20s on Saturday and Sunday made for good watching and good racing according to Ryan.
