Silverstone returning to the WEC calendar?
As we approached Le Mans when we know the calendar would be confirmed for 2026, multiple sources had hinted that it could be the year we see Silverstone return, some even saying there is a deal in place.

With the ever growing popularity of the World Endurance Championship and sportscar racing in general a lot saw this as a done deal. When the calendar was released we were all very disappointed not to see it in the schedule.

A month on and the rumours continue but even stronger than before, it’s evidently not going to be a 2026 return for the Silverstone round, but stronger than ever we could see the Northampton circuit return for the 2027 calendar.

Backing the original talks, the ELMS return was speculated to be a test event to see how the demand was on British soil for Endurance racing. It’s reported that the advanced sales of the ELMS tickets for Silverstone are more than 20,000 with over 2 months until the event.

It’s not a cheap endeavour for the teams to adventure over the UK, with this in mind it’s making sure a solid pen to paper deal is in place for both Silverstone and LMEM to make sure it works financially for both sides in this ever hopeful return for the WEC in the growing golden era.
