With plans to compete in the Pirelli World Challenge 8 Hours of Laguna, Jason Bell, an Audi Sport customer racing driver, has now thrown his hat into the mix at the IMSA SportsCar Encore at Sebring. Taking place at the Sebring International Raceway on the November 9-11 weekend, Jason Bell will co-pilot an Audi R8 GT4 LMS with GMG Racing teammate and 2018 champion James Sofronos.
“2019 started the Monday morning after the final event and this is a good way to get on track, stay sharp and continue to test our Audi GT4,” explained Jason Bell. “We had a great start and finish to the season, but need to work on the consistency in the middle. Discipline and consistency is what wins championships and that is something that I want to do.”
The IMSA SportsCar Encore event weekend will include a promoter test day open to all participants on Friday, November 9 before the official official schedule for Saturday and Sunday commence. Saturday will house three separate one-hour practice sessions, with a fourth, 30-minute practice planned for Sunday morning prior to qualifying and the feature events.
“The upcoming Encore at Sebring will be an event like no other, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it with Jason Bell,” added James Sofronos. “The event will welcome a new tire partnership that marks a new era ahead of IMSA’s 50th Anniversary, and the first preliminary run of the new Michelin Pilot Challenge will be a great way to see what the series has on offer, and of course at one of the most iconic circuits, Sebring International Raceway. Jason should be a great addition, Sebring requires a great combination of patience and aggression, and I’m sure he’ll love it. Our Audi R8 LMS GT4 will be really matched there, so we’re aiming to be quick right out of the box.”
While 2019 plans have yet to be finalized, Jason Bell has confirmed a return to GMG Racing and a jam packed schedule. With plans to hit all major events throughout the country, the now veteran driver is also interested in some European venues.
Bell continued, “While we are still in 2018, this will be considered my second event of 2019 and I cannot wait to put the right food forward.”
Jason Bell would like to thank his partners for their continued support. A special thanks to Continental Benefits, Osteria, Frost NYC, Gridsport, Reeves Motorsports, Audi of Tampa and Global Motorsports Group.
