After two days of qualifying, championship battles remained alive in three of the four categories. However, persistent rain on race day limited eliminations to a single round before the event was called, bringing the FIA EDRC season to an early conclusion.
The Santa Pod track crew worked throughout the day to prepare the surface after lengthy rain delays, with racing eventually resuming in the afternoon. However, further rain after the first elimination round, combined with the venue’s 21:00 curfew, forced officials to end proceedings at 20:30.
In Top Fuel, Susanne Callin had already secured her second consecutive title by qualifying third on Saturday. The RF Motorsport driver added to her celebrations by defeating 2024 champion Jndia Erbacher in the opening elimination round. Although Erbacher posted the quicker elapsed time, Callin took victory on a holeshot. The Swede had been set to face team-mate and top qualifier Colin Millar in the final, but the rain prevented the showdown from taking place.
Millar completed an impressive rookie campaign by finishing second in the championship, ahead of Erbacher in third.
Top Methanol produced one of the closest title battles of the season. Bryntesson arrived at race day leading the standings, with three-time champion Timo Habermann just 12 points behind. Habermann defeated fellow German Silvio Strauch in the opening round, while Bryntesson advanced on a bye run, setting up a winner-takes-all semi-final between the championship’s top two drivers.
The decisive encounter never happened. With racing halted before the semi-finals could begin, Bryntesson secured the championship, while Habermann finished runner-up. Jonny Lagg claimed third in the final standings.
The Pro Modified title fight also remained open. Reigning champion Jere Rantaniemi needed to gain two rounds on championship leader Andres Arnover to retain his crown. Both drivers advanced from the opening round and were on course for a potential semi-final clash that could have decided the title.
When racing was stopped before the quarter-finals, Arnover was confirmed as champion, becoming the first Estonian driver to win the FIA European Pro Modified title. Rantaniemi finished second overall, while Stian Rusånes secured third place in the standings after defeating Bruno Bader in the opening round. Michel Tooren ended the season fourth.
In Pro Stock, championship leader and top qualifier Jimmy Ålund started the day with a clear advantage over reigning champion Robin Norén. Any remaining title hopes for Norén disappeared in the first round when mechanical problems led to defeat against Stefan Ernryd.
With Norén eliminated, Ålund was confirmed as champion, extending his remarkable record to 14 FIA EDRC Pro Stock titles. Ernryd finished third in the championship standings.
