Leading British GT3 team Barwell Motorsport today announced its plans to join the 2017 International GT Open rounds of Silverstone (2-3 September) and Barcelona (28-29 October) with a squad of its Lamborghini Huracáns GT3.
Founded in the 60s and based in Surrey, Barwell Motorsport is a well-known organization in the GT scene, currently active in the BES and British GT (where it conquered two overall and two Team titles), and has shone in many other series, including the ELMS.
More recently, Barwell has switched to Lamborghini Huracán, with the support of the factory, and it is currently leading the British GT Series and lying a close second in Pro-Am in the BES, having totaled 8 race wins so far this year.
“We are keen to try and carry this outstanding form into the International GT Open series this season, with an eye on launching a full championship assault in this arena in 2018”, said the team in a statement. Drivers for the Silverstone and Barcelona outings this year will be announced in due course, as conversations are still open and on-going.
