OHSWEKEN, Ont. (August 9, 2018) – The Action Sprint Tour powered by RaceRivalz.com resumes action on its inaugural 2018 season as the upstart tour makes its second appearance at Humberstone Speedway this Sunday, August 12. The Port Colborne, Ont. track hosted the tour in June for a Father’s Day special that drew 19 cars to the fast 1/3-mile track.
After a 40-day layoff in June and July, the Series is now in the middle of four races in as many weeks. The Action Sprint Tour powered by RaceRivalz.com is coming off an exciting event last Friday night at Ohsweken Speedway as Jacob Dykstra bested a field of 30 entrants. This Sunday’s stop marks the third race of the stretch. Following Humberstone, the tour will head to its most eastern point when it makes its inaugural appearance at Brighton Speedway on Saturday, August 18.
So far this season, the series has seen three different winners in six races. Aaron Turkey won the first and fourth races while Shone Evans won back-to-back races at Merrittville and South Buxton in May and June before Jacob Dykstra claimed consecutive checkered flags.
Last time at Humberstone, Aaron Turkey held off teammate Holly Porter to score his second career Action Sprint Tour powered by RaceRivalz.com victory. Finishing third was Dykstra, who has now won two straight series races with victories at Merrittville Speedway and Ohsweken. Brad Herron and teenager Liam Martin rounded out the top-five back in June. Turkey, Porter and Martin were also the heat race winners.
Entering this week’s race, Jesse Costa of St. Thomas, Ont. is the current series point leader with six of 10 races completed despite no having scored a victory. He saw his lead over Turkey shrink to just nine points following last Friday’s race. Shone Evans, who has a pair of wins this season, is also in the mix, just two points back of Turkey and 11 points out of the lead. Fourth is Jacob Dykstra, just 21 points back while veteran driver Ryan Hunsinger rounds out the top-five. Hannah Ferrell, Steven Beckett, Jerry Hill, Dereck Lemyre and Holly Porter round out the top-10 with four races remaining.
Sunday’s race at Humberstone Speedway will also feature the BEI Lightning Series Sportsman as well as Late Models, Mini Stocks and Pro 4 Trucks on Verge Insurance Group night. Race time is 6:30pm. For additional event information, including admission prices, visit www.humberstonespeedway.com.
