W hat a long journey since his first tests at Auto Sport Academy for the youngest driver in the French F4 Championship! A junior kart driver, he now has hopes of progressing in motorsport. Only 15 years old, Michael has learned the basics of his future job as a driver with a determination and maturity that commands respect. The 2015 season has just
ended in the south of France on the famous Paul Ricard Circuit at Le Castellet.
«The last race was not easy, as once again I was learning a new track, and that of Le Castellet is not the easiest to grasp,» said the young driver. «Plus, I wasn’t in Spain for Navarra so it was almost two months since I had driven. It took me some time to find the rhythm, but I gradually got my bearings to reduce the gap significantly. I managed to gain places in all three races and improve
my lap times, which is positive.»
Michael has not lost the confidence he had acquired this summer, especially during the meeting at Magny-Cours. We saw him fight particularly hard in Race 2 and carry out a superb overtake
in the famous double right Beausset, which was not possible for everyone. His coach, Stéphane Daoudi, looks back on a rewarding season of teaching.
«When Michael first took the wheel of an F4 on the Bugatti circuit at Le Mans, he had no experience of the car. For a driver 14 years old earlier this year, he made a very good progress against older and more experienced opponents. He has now learned the main parameters of driving the car, such as cornering and braking, and has a strong foundation to continue to progress. He races smartly and learns more and more quickly. He still lacks the ability to quickly overtake his rivals, despite an excellent top speed, so his raw results do not reflect his true capabilities.
What is interesting is that he develops with each race. Everything is in place for a solid 2016 season.»
The continuation of his education will occupy part of the offseason, but Michael will also use this period for test sessions and to discuss next season with increased ambition.
