DC Autosport Launches F4 Program, Teams With Cape
ST. LOUIS – Newly formed DC Autosport will partner with Cape Motorsports for the upcoming F4 U.S. Championship powered by Honda campaign.
DC Autosport was formed by former Cape Motorsports race engineer Don Conner, who played a key role in Cape Motorsports capturing the F4 U.S. Championship in 2017 with Kyle Kirkwood.
Conner’s technical resume is impressive, highlighted by engineering, driver coaching and data acquisition posts in Daytona Prototype with Beyer Racing and Indy Lights with Andersen Racing along with more than 10 years with Cape Motorsports in USF2000, Pro Mazda and F4.
“I believe the F4 series is the ideal place for drivers early in their careers, because costs are considered, and you’re up against a large field with deep competition,” said Conner. “Setting up the team this this way gives me the opportunity to focus on it as a primary mission and apply myself to the cause on a day-to-day basis.”
The team will base itself in St. Louis, Mo., and will have three Onroak F4 chassis in the shop, the same cars that Conner engineered with Cape Motorsports en route to the F4 driver and team titles. DC Autosport and Cape Motorsports will work together via a technical partnership.
The team will begin testing in January and will have numerous outings on their schedule, beginning with the F4 U.S. Championship season opener on April 27-29 at Virginia Int’l Raceway. The series schedule features 18 races over six weekends at VIR, Road Atlanta, the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the Pittsburgh Int’l Race Complex, New Jersey Motorsports Park and Circuit of the Americas.
