FERRARI ON THE PODIUM IN LMGTE AM AT THE 6 HOURS OF FUJI

The #83 Ferrari 488 GTE courtesy of AF Corse claimed second place in the LMGTE Am class in the 6 Hours of Fuji, second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship. The crew made up of François Perrodo, Emmanuel Collard and Nicklas Nielsen, after the success in the opening round at Silverstone, consolidate their championship leadership. In LMGTE Pro, AF Corse’s Ferrari crews leave the Japanese track having missed out on a podium after watching their race strategy thwarted by a Full Course Yellow, stripping the Ferrari cars of any chance of a battle for victory.

FIRST WEC POLE POSITION FOR THE NEW PORSCHE 911 RSR

The new Porsche 911 RSR will take up round two of the FIA World Endurance Championship at Fuji (Japan) from pole position. Gianmaria Bruni (Italy) and Richard Lietz (Austria), the winners of the season-opener at Silverstone (Great Britain), turned the fastest lap in the number 91 vehicle. The ca. 515 hp No. 92 sister car driven by Kévin Estre (France) and Michael Christensen (Denmark) will tackle the six-hour race from the sixth grid spot. In the GTE-Am class, Porsche’s German customer team Project 1 achieved the first grid position.

FERRARI READY FOR A FIGHT-BACK AT FUJI

Season 8 of the FIA World Endurance Championship stops off this weekend at Fuji Speedway for the second calendar date after the season-opener at Silverstone. The Japanese circuit plays host to the 6 Hours of Fuji where Ferrari crews – two in the LMGTE Pro class and four in LMGTE Am – are summoned for a repeat demonstration of the competitiveness shown in England in a bid for precious championship points.

CRAFT-BAMBOO RACING CONFIRMS RETURN TO MOUNT PANORAMA FOR THE 2020 BATHURST 12 HOUR

Craft-Bamboo Racing confirms a return to the 2020 Bathurst 12 Hour in the pro category, as part of the 2020 Intercontinental GT Challenge. The team will compete at the infamous Mount Panorama circuit in Australia with one entry, and a possibility of a second entry to be confirmed at a later date. The driver lineup is yet to be finalized, but it is likely to again be fielded by Mercedes-AMG factory drivers at the famous race down under.

MERCEDES-AMG TO GO ON ‘TITLE SAFARI’ DURING THE KYALAMI 9 HOUR

Mercedes-AMG Motorsport is heading into the fifth and final race of the season in the Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli (IGTC) as the leader in the drivers’ and manufacturers’ standings. This year’s season finale of the series (21-23 November) is held at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit for the first time. The track in South Africa is to become the venue for a crowning season end for Mercedes-AMG: the performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach having won the drivers’ championship and having become runner-up in the final manufacturers’ standings last year, the double with both titles is the goal this time. In total, seven Mercedes-AMG GT3 will be racing at the 4.522 kilometres long track, three of which with extended works support.

BLANCPAIN GT WEEKEND ROUNDUP: BARCELONA

There was only one way that Orange1 FFF Racing could snatch the Endurance Cup title on Sunday afternoon: they had to win. With a 24-point deficit to the leading SMP Ferrari crew, they also needed Miguel Molina, Mikhail Aleshin and Davide Rigon to finish no higher than 10th at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. FFF drivers Andrea Caldarelli and Marco Mapelli knew that this was a long shot.
