These two cars will start at the front of their respective class grids in tomorrow’s race starting at 13:00.

AUDI AHEAD IN FIRST PRACTICE AS ADAC GT MASTERS TITLE CONTENDERS HOLD FIRE

Audi driver Ricardo Feller (20, CH) set the first best time of the day in FP1 of the ADAC GT Masters finale at Oschersleben. On a drying track, Feller topped the timesheets ahead of Lamborghini drivers Clemens Schmid (30, AUT) and Tim Zimmermann (24, GER, both GRT Grasser Racing Team). The title contenders were meanwhile happy to bide their time in the slippery conditions.

THE TOP CONTENDERS FOR THE ADAC GT MASTERS TITLE

Will championship leaders Patric Niederhauser (29, CH) and Kelvin van der Linde (24, ZA, both Rutronik Racing) become the first drivers ever to mount a successful defence of their ADAC GT Masters title, or can strong competition take the championship away from the Audi drivers during this weekend’s grand finale at Oschersleben (6th-8th November)? There are 50 points still to be won, so anything is possible in the fight for the title in the Super Sports Car League.

GRT GRASSER RACING TEAM SHOW FIGHTING SPIRIT AT THE LAUSITZRING

GRT Grasser Racing Team travelled to Brandenburg for the penultimate weekend of the 2020 ADAC GT Masters. The organisers of the Super Sports Car League were forced to cancel the Zandvoort fixture due to the acute coronavirus situation in the Netherlands and to make late arrangements for the two races to be contested at the Lausitzring, which had already hosted the series earlier in summer. There was one slight difference between this event and the season opener in July/August, as the 4,534-metre track variant was used this time. For the Austrian outfit, however, the return to the venue did not bring the hoped-for success, with only one Top Ten finish to show for their endeavours. The strong pace of the three Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVOs was compromised in two tempestuous races by unfortunate timing.

SHOWDOWN AT OSCHERSLEBEN: WHO WILL BECOME THE NEW ADAC GT MASTERS CHAMPION

The ADAC GT Masters title contenders have no time to relax. Less than one week after the races at the Lausitzring, the Super Sports Car League will be staging its grand finale in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, 6th – 8th November. It will definitely be a very exciting affair, since no less than ten drivers from Audi, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche still have a chance of securing the drivers’ title. Last year’s champions Patric Niederhauser (29, CH) and Kelvin van der Linde (24, ZA, both Rutronik Racing) are the ones to beat again at Oschersleben. However, the competition led by Porsche drivers Robert Renauer (35, GER, Precote Herberth Motorsport) and Christian Engelhart (33, GER)/Michael Ammermüller (34, GER, both SSR Performance) intend to stop the Audi drivers in their bid to mount a successful title defence. The races will take place in the absence of spectators and in accordance with the latest biosecurity guidelines while following measures developed by the ADAC GT Masters and approved by the authorities to prevent the spread of infection and promote good hygiene.

DOUBLE PODIUMS FOR B-QUIK ABSOLUTE RACING IN BURIRAM

B-Quik Absolute Racing ended the opening round of Thailand Super Series 2020, held at Chang International Circuit in Buriram last weekend, with strong finishes for both cars in Race 2 and that resulted in a decent haul of points to take forward as we immediately start looking forward to the title decider of this compact and explosive season that comes up, again taking place here, in less two weeks’ time.

RESULT IN THE ADAC GT MASTERS TOP TEN AND JUNIOR PODIUM FOR BWT MUKE MOTORSPORT AT THE LAUSITZRING

BWT Mücke Motorsport competed for the second time this 2020 ADAC GT Masters season at the Lausitzring over the weekend. The season opener took place at this circuit in the summer, and the Super Sports Car League was now back there to contest the penultimate race weekend of the season. Races eleven and twelve were originally calendared to take place at the Circuit Zandvoort, but the Covid-19 pandemic stopped that happening, so the 30 super sports cars, including the BWT Audi R8 LMS #26, raced on the 4.57-km version of the Lausitzring instead. Ricardo Feller and Stefan Mücke were in action without team-mates Igor Walilko and Mike David Ortmann again. Walilko’s recovery is taking longer than expected, so the crew of the BWT Audi R8 LMS #25 were out of contention again.

PORSCHE GT TEAM WINS AFTER A TACTICAL MASTERSTROKE IN CALIFORNIA

The Porsche GT Team has scored its second straight win in the North American IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Belgium’s Laurens Vanthoor and Earl Bamber from New Zealand reached the finish line first on the Laguna Seca Raceway and achieved the first victory for the Porsche 911 RSR on the storied Californian racetrack since the start of the factory campaign in 2014. The identical ca. 515 hp sister car driven by their works driver colleagues Nick Tandy from Great Britain and Frédéric Makowiecki from France finished on fourth place in the hotly-contested GTLM category.
