DARRYL O’YOUNG CLAIMS HIS SECOND MACAU GT CUP WIN AT THE 68th MACAU GRAND PRIX

Despite facing a major setback following a crash in Race 1 of the Macau GT Cup, Darryl O’Young came through to win a brilliant Race 2 at the 68th Macau Grand Prix. The Hong Kong driver drove a patched up #95 Mercedes-AMG GT3, placing it perfectly at the start to take an early lead. He controlled the pace from there, not allowing any chasing cars to overtake, and see home a well-deserved victory.

ADAM SMALLEY NAMED AS PORSCHE CARRERA CUP GB JUNIOR FOR 2022 AND 2023 SEASONS

Adam Smalley (20, Poulton-le-Fylde) has been announced as the Porsche Carrera Cup GB 2022 / 2023 Junior at the Porsche Motorsport GB ‘Night of Motorsport’ end of season awards. Smalley succeeds 2020 Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion Harry King in the role, following in the footsteps of former Juniors Dan Harper (2018 / 2019), Charlie Eastwood (2016 / 2017) and Josh Webster (2014 / 2015). All three took title honours before furthering their careers on the international motorsport stage.

CRAFT-BAMBOO RACING CLASSIFIED IN P2 IN RACE 1 AT MACAU FOLLOWING MAJOR CRASH FOR O’YOUNG

It was a long Saturday at the 68th Macau Grand Prix. During the Warm Up session of the Macau GT Cup, an Audi car had a hefty impact with the barriers and the session was cut short. Following long delays due to barrier repair, the Macau GT Cup Race 1 started as the sun began to set. Darryl O’Young started in his #95 Mercedes-AMG GT3 from P2 and maintained his position at the race start. Halfway through the session, O’Young was caught unawares with a slippery surface and his car spiralled out of control, going straight into the barriers.

PORSCHE SPRINT CHALLENGE NORTH AMERICA 2022 VISION PLAN

The Porsche Sprint Challenge North America by Yokohama moves into its second season with great momentum. The Porsche Motorsport Pyramid North America series will have access to the newest Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car, the type 992, for its top class and a strong seven-race schedule developed to minimize conflicts with other major sports car racing events. In addition, Porsche Motorsport North America (PMNA) and the United States Auto Club (USAC) announce the formation of the Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West, a six-weekend season developed to provide race teams in the western United States and Canada a more geographically favourable travel schedule.

DARRYL O’YOUNG SECURES FRONT ROW START AFTER QUALIFYING AT THE MACAU GRAND PRIX

Darryl O’Young’s return to track at the 68th Macau Grand Prix kicked off with a stellar performance on the first day of the weekend. He was immediately up to the task, putting his #95 Mercedes-AMG GT3 at the top of the timesheets in the single Free Practice session on Friday afternoon. Having just gotten back to the racetrack, straight out of quarantine, O’Young took the first couple of laps to get acquainted to the New Mercedes-AMG GT3 driving for the first time on Avon tires. Following a brief red flag period, he rolled out of the pit lane and began to push the car to its limits around the Guia Circuit. In his 17th entry at the Macau Grand Prix, his experience and knowledge of the track shone through as he pulled clear of the field and set the fastest time of the session.

CRAFT-BAMBOO RACING HOPEFUL FOR A STRONG PERFORMANCE AT THE 68th MACAU GRAND PRIX

One of the most prestigious events of the year in Asia, the Macau Grand Prix is all set to get underway this weekend. For a second year in a row, the event will feature teams and drivers exclusively from Hong Kong, China and Macau due to pandemic regulations. As previously announced, Craft-Bamboo Racing’s Darryl O’Young will contest the 2021 Macau GT Cup as part of the 68th Macau Grand Prix in the #95 Mercedes-AMG GT3.

GRT GRASSER RACING TEAM TO CONTEST DTM IN 2022

GRT and Lamborghini Squadra Corse set their sights on new horizons. The Austrian outfit and the Italian sports car manufacturer will take their successful collaboration to the next level in 2022 by entering the DTM. A quartet of Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVOs will mark the start of a new chapter in the prestigious GT3 Series, with the number 63 car to be piloted by an official Lamborghini factory driver. The complete line-up will be announced in due course.

CETILAR RACING LANDS IN THE AMERICAN IMSA CHAMPIONSHIP

Cetilar Racing looks to the States, announcing a new star-spangled challenge in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup GT series for next season. A challenge once again branded #47 Ferrari (488 GT3 Evo), with the full-fledged support of AF Corse being reconfirmed as well as the same crew, composed by Roberto Lacorte, Giorgio Sernagiotto and Antonio Fuoco, that this year proved to be great protagonists in the LMGTE Am of the FIA World Endurance Championship, while Andrea Belicchi will continue to play an essential coordinating role on track.

OLIVER JARVIS JOINS MEYER SHANK RACING

Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) has announced that sports car ace and 2021 Motul Petit Le Mans overall winner Oliver Jarvis will join the team’s full-season lineup for the 2022 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season. Jarvis will make his debut in the No. 60 Acura ARX-05 DPi  in the 2022 Rolex 24 At Daytona as MSR begins its second full-season of IMSA DPi competition. 

GRT GRASSER RACING OUT OF LUCK AT PETIT LE MANS

Last weekend was the final competitive outing of the 2021 motorsport season for the Grasser Racing Team. One week after the last round of this year’s ADAC GT Masters at the Nürburgring in Germany, the Knittelfeld-based outfit were back in action with their Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO in the USA for the last time this year. The closing fixture of the 2021 IMSA SportsCar Championship was one of the great endurance classics, the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. Lamborghini factory drivers Franck Perera and Michele Beretta, together with sports car veteran Misha Goikhberg, gave it their all one last time until a no-fault accident put an early end to their chase for the podium.

MERCEDES-AMG CUSTOMER TEAMS COMPETITIVE TO THE FINISH IN SEASON ENDING WEATHERTECH SPORTS CAR CHAMPIONSHIP

Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Customer Racing teams combined for a string of success across two racing series in IMSA’s 2021 finale this past weekend at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. The competitive showing included the best finish of the season for the No. 28 Alegra Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 team in Saturday’s featured Motul Petit Le Mans, the first Mercedes-AMG GT4 pole of the season and a combined 59 race laps led over 12 hours of competition in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season-ending races.
