PORSCHE CUSTOMER TEAM FRONT ROW QUALIFIER FOR ROLEX 24 AT DAYTONA

The grid is set for the 60th Running of the Rolex 24 At Daytona. After finishing in the runner-up position in Sunday’s 100-minute qualifying race, the No. 79 WeatherTech Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R race car will start in second-place of the 13-car GTD Pro class on the 2.56-mile, 12-turn road course. The driver combination of Julien Andlauer (France) and Alessio Picariello (Belgium) will be joined by Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Illinois) and Matteo Cairoli (Italy) in the new all-pro category on race day. The No. 16 Wright Motorsports Porsche shared by Jan Heylen (Belgium) and Ryan Hardwick (Atlanta, Georgia) was the top GTD class finisher for the German sports car manufacturer finishing in third-place Sunday. The duo will be teamed with Porsche factory driver Richard Lietz (Austria) and 2021 GTD Champion Zacharie Robichon (Canada) for the January 29 – 30 Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway.

ASTON MARTIN TEAMS FIELD STRONGEST DAYTONA LINE-UP IN BID FOR 2022 ROLEX 24 HOURS GLORY

Aston Martin heads into this weekend’s Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona with its partner teams fielding arguably the strongest ever assault on the US endurance classic by the luxury British sportscar brand. The race will feature four competitive Vantage GT3 line-ups – the most ever – spread across both classes of IMSA’s revamped GTD division, and each will include works Aston Martin Racing drivers in crews capable of challenging for victory.

WHELEN ENGINEERING RACING FINISHES SEVENTH IN ROAR BEFORE THE 24 QUALIFYING RACE

Whelen Engineering drivers Tristan Nunez (Boynton Beach, Fla.) and Pipo Derani (Brazil) finished seventh in Sunday’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Roar Before the 24 100-minute qualifying race at Daytona International Speedway. Today’s finish will put the 2021 championship-winning No. 31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-V.R seventh on the DPi grid for next weekend’s 60th-running of the Rolex 24 At Daytona.

ALLY CADILLAC FINISHES THIRD IN ROAR BEFORE THE 24 QUALIFYING RACE

Ally Cadillac drivers Jimmie Johnson (El Cajon, Calif.) and Kamui Kobayashi (Japan) finished third in Sunday’s Roar Before the 24 100-minute qualifying race at Daytona International Speedway. Today’s result will see Johnson and Kobayashi, along with teammates Mike Rockenfeller (Germany) and Jose Maria Lopez (Argentina), start third on the DPi grid for next weekend’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Rolex 24 At Daytona.

FERRARI ANNOUNCES DRIVERS TO DEFEND FIA WEC TITLES

With just under two months to go before the 1000 Miles of Sebring, the opening round of the tenth season of the FIA World Endurance Championship, Ferrari announced the crews that will line up for the series with the AF Corse 488 GTEs in the LMGTE Pro class. Having taken its sixth World Manufacturers’ Championship, Ferrari will be looking to retain the title in the LMGTE Pro’s final world championship season.

AUDI SPORT CUSTOMER RACING WITH 18 DRIVERS FOR 2022

Audi Sport customer racing enters the 2022 motorsport season with a mix of established drivers and promising young drivers – including three new signings. The driver squad comprises a total of 16 talents. They are joined by three-time DTM champion René Rast and former DTM vice-champion Nico Müller. The two drivers will strengthen the brand’s customer racing program this year again.

A new year brings new teams, new combinations, new classes and a new Porsche race car as customer programs prepare for the 2022 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Michelin Pilot Challenge seasons. 14 total privateer teams have entered Porsche-built race cars – evenly split across the two sports car racing series – at the annual Roar Before the Rolex 24 scheduled for January 21 – 22. The two day test on the 3.56-mile, 12-turn Daytona International Speedway road course not only gives competitors an opportunity to prepare for the 60th Running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona but also sets the grid for the January 29 – 30 endurance classic with a 100-minute qualifying race scheduled for January 23.

WRIGHT MOTORSPORTS RIDES MOMENTUM INTO NEW RACE SEASON

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s off-season is officially over this week as all teams begin to set up at Daytona International Speedway for the Roar Before the 24, the first on-track event of the 2022 season. After winning the 2021 Michelin Pilot Challenge team and driver championships in addition to the IMSA WeatherTech Michelin Endurance Cup team and driver championships, Porsche customer racing program Wright Motorsports has great momentum heading into the season start.

BMW M MOTORSPORT IS APPROACHING THE 2022 SEASON WITH A STRONG SET OF DRIVERS

BMW M Motorsport is counting on continuity in the driver line-up for the 2022 season. In the coming months, 19 BMW M works drivers will be competing around the world in the new BMW M4 GT3 for a range of BMW M Motorsport teams, and will also play a key role in the testing phase for the new BMW M LMDh. All 19 drivers are already familiar faces from previous years in the BMW M Motorsport family. Their experience and class are particularly crucial for the many new challenges that BMW M Motorsport is facing.

ABT SPORTSLINE BRINGS TOP TALENT RICARDO FELLER INTO THE DTM

ABT Sportsline will again be running three Audis in the DTM races. Next to three-time DTM champion René Rast and Kelvin van der Linde, third in the championship last year, the successful outfit from Kempten has signed 21-year-old Ricardo Feller for the third seat. The Swiss, who already competed in races with a GT3 race car at the age of 16, is considered as a great talent and a driver with huge potential.

Sporting a livery designed by a six-year-old Canadian race fan, the LMP2 team proudly demonstrated they were a force to be reckoned with.
