MERCEDES-AMG CUSTOMER RACING TO PARTICIPATE IN BATHURST 12 HOUR WITH SIX CARS

For its season opener, the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) is returning to the Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst this weekend. The field for the popular Bathurst 12 Hour includes, among others, six Mercedes-AMG customer sport teams, each of them taking on the huge challenges of the traditional circuit in the southeast of Australia with one Mercedes-AMG GT3. Next to Mercedes-AMG Team Craft Bamboo Racing that will be participating with extended support from Affalterbach, the teams are Nineteen Corporation Pty Ltd, RAM Motorsport, SunEnergy1 Racing, Triple Eight Race Engineering and Valmont Racing. Like in previous years, Mercedes-AMG is again providing the safety car for this legendary race.

SATISFACTORY DRESS REHEARSAL FOR THE NURBURGRING 24-HOUR RACE FOR PORSCHE

For the Porsche customer teams, the two test races before the 24-hour highlight on the Eifel circuit concluded with acceptable results and important insights. On Saturday, works drivers Julien Andlauer (F), Matt Campbell (AUS) and Matthieu Jaminet (F) finished in the top six for their team Toksport WRT. On Sunday, the KCMG quartet Dennis Olsen (N), Earl Bamber (NZ), Josh Burdon (AUS) and Nick Tandy (GB) improved this result by one position.

MERCEDES-AMG TEAM GETSPEED CHARGES TO VICTORY IN 24H NURBURGRING DRESS REHEARSAL

With two three-hour qualification races, the dress rehearsal for the ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring took place this weekend. In the Sunday race, the #3 Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed entry with Adam Christodoulou (GBR), Maximilian Götz (GER) and Fabian Schiller (GER) brought home a long-awaited victory following a strong recovery drive. On the previous day, Maro Engel (GER), Jules Gounon (FRA) and Daniel Juncadella (ESP) had already scored a podium result with the #4 sister car. In the upcoming 50th running of the 24-hour race, Mercedes-AMG Teams Bilstein, GetSpeed and Landgraf as well as CP Racing and Schnitzelalm Racing are in the field with a first-class driver line-up and a total of seven Mercedes-AMG GT3s.

ONE-TWO FOR THE BMW M4 GT3 IN THE DRESS REHEARSAL FOR THE NURBURGRING 24 HOURS

The BMW M Motorsport teams used the new format of the Qualifiers for the Nürburgring 24 Hours (GER) to put the finishing touches to their preparations for the highlight of the endurance season, which takes place on 28th/29th May. The new BMW M4 GT3 impressed in the two three-hour races, with two pole positions, a lap record, a one-two result and a further podium finish. On Saturday, the BMW Junior Team took victory ahead of the #99 BMW M4 GT3 of ROWE Racing. On Sunday, Dan Harper (GBR), Max Hesse (GER) and Neil Verhagen (USA) finished runner-up, despite a time penalty. BMW M GmbH, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2022, has announced some spectacular events to feature on the support programme for the 24-hour race; the BMW M Race of Legends with the BMW M2 CS Racing and test drives for media representatives in current BMW M cars.

PORSCHE DEFENDS ITS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD AT SPA

The Porsche GT Team has concluded the six-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps in second and fifth place with the two 911 RSR. With this result at round two of the FIA World Endurance Championship WEC, the sports car manufacturer defended its lead in the classification – in the manufacturers’ as well as in the drivers’ categories. The Porsche customer team Dempsey-Proton Racing won the GTE-Am class with the No. 77 car. At the end of an eventful race in Belgium, Christian Ried from Germany and his British teammates Sebastian Priaulx and Harry Tincknell crossed the finish line first in the 378 kW (515 PS) 911 from Weissach.
