RECORD DTM FIELD AT LAUSITZRING TURN 1

Spectacular motorsport is guaranteed: when the 29 world-class drivers with their race cars are roaring through the banked first corner, exclusively reserved for DTM, it will be tight at Lausitzring. Turn 1, with its light banking, is something special. A challenge for all, a breath-taking highlight for the fans. Two, three or sometimes even four abreast, the race cars from Audi, BMW and Mercedes-AMG as well as Ferrari, Lamborghini and, for the first time, Porsche will be taking on this magic first corner at around 250 km/h while the spectators have an excellent view of the action from the towering grandstand, 36 metres high.

LAMBORGHINI ANNOUNCES DEVELOPMENT OF ITS LMDh HYBRID SPORTS CAR PROTOTYPE RACING PROGRAM

Lamborghini Squadra Corse is developing its first LMDh prototype, which will debut in 2024 in the FIA World Endurance Championship (Hypercar class) and the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship (GTP class). Since 2015, Lamborghini has been competing at the pinnacle of GT racing, celebrating more than 40 titles and some unique achievements: the triple GTD class win at the legendary 24 Hours at Daytona between 2018 and 2020 was the first time a manufacturer won three times in a row. Now, the company’s commitment to the LMDh class is the step into the top level of sports car racing, allowing Lamborghini to compete for overall victories at the world’s most prestigious endurance races, such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 24 Hours at Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring.

HIGH CLASS FIELD FOR THE DTM TROPHY SEASON OPENER AT LAUSITZRING

The appeal of the DTM is also effective in the talent pool that is DTM Trophy: drivers from eleven nations fill the grid for the season opener at Lausitzring Turn 1 powered by Autohero this weekend (20-22 May). 20 production-based GT sports cars from six automobile manufacturers, Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-AMG, Porsche and Toyota will be starting for the first two of the 14 races of the 2022 DTM Trophy on Saturday and Sunday at 3.15pm CEST.

GRT ARRIVES TO THE LAUSITZRING FOR ROUND TWO OF THE 2022 DTM AS CHAMPIONSHIP LEADER

The 2022 DTM season got off to an almost perfect start for GRT in Portimão. After a pole position and two podiums by Lamborghini factory driver Mirko Bortolotti, the squad led by team principal Gottfried Grasser surges on with the first races in Germany this coming weekend. For the third and fourth race of this year’s DTM championship, the crews of the four Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO will travel from Grasser Racing’s headquarters in Styria to the Lausitzring. On this familiar track, Mirko Bortolotti, Clemens Schmid, Rolf Ineichen and Alessio Deledda will be looking to build on their form from the first round of the season.

MEYER SHANK RACING THIRD ON MID-OHIO STARTING GRID

Arriving at the home track carrying the momentum of a strong podium result and tied for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship lead, Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) was eager to kick things off at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend. Located just 60 miles north of its brand new 42,000 square foot facility, Mid-Ohio has been central to the team’s history since day one.
