PORSCHE GT TEAM STARTS THE LE MANS 24 HOURS FROM THE SECOND GRID ROW

The two 911 RSR fielded by the Porsche GT Team will take up this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans from the second grid row. In the Hyperpole session, the two works drivers Frédéric Makowiecki from France and Laurens Vanthoor from Belgium planted the two ca. 378 kW (515 PS) 911 racers on positions three and four. In the GTE-Am class, Britain’s Harry Tincknell secured the third grid spot at the wheel of the No. 77 car campaigned by the customer team Dempsey-Proton Racing.

NEW DESIGN, NEW NAME FOR THE BMW M HYBRID V8 LMDh PROTOTYPE

Ahead of the testing phase for the LMDh prototype for the 2023 season in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, BMW M Motorsport announces the name, the design, and an exciting camouflage livery for the car. The BMW M Hybrid V8 will sport a look designed by BMW Group Designworks, and celebrates the history of BMW M Motorsport in North America while defining a dynamic hybrid electric future. Key information for fans is that the prototype is clearly recognizable as a BMW M car.

PORSCHE GT TEAM OPTIMISES THE 911 RSR SETUP AT THE LE MANS TEST DAY

At the official pre-test, the Porsche GT Team has continued its preparations for the 90th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (11/12 June). In the two four-hour sessions on the 13.626-kilometre Circuit des 24 Heures, both Porsche 911 RSR run by the works team turned a total of 143 laps (1,949 kilometres). On the timesheets, the No. 91 and 92 cars occupied positions three and six in the notoriously competitive GTE-Pro class. Eight other ca. 378 kW (515 PS) racers from Weissach will tackle the GTE-Am category. The fastest Porsche in that class was the No. 93 entry from Proton Competition with Hollywood star Michael Fassbender as one of the driver crew.

BMW JUNIOR TEAM DRIVES TO FOURTH PLACE AFTER STRONG RECOVERY PERFORMANCE AT THE 1000 km PAUL RICARD

In the second race of the season in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, the BMW Junior Team gave an impressive recovery performance to finish the 1000-kilometre race at the Circuit Paul Ricard at Le Castellet (FRA) in fourth place. Racing on this circuit for the first time, Neil Verhagen (USA), Dan Harper (GBR) and Max Hesse (GER) qualified in 22nd place in the BMW M4 GT3. During the six hours of racing, faultless performances and great pace saw them move gradually up through the field. The ROWE Racing car with Nick Catsburg (NED), Augusto Farfus (BRA) and Nick Yelloly (GBR) at the wheel was in a promising position in the race, only to fall back after a punctured tyre.

WHELEN ENGINEERING RACING FINISHES FOURTH AT BELLE ISLE

Whelen Engineering drivers Pipo Derani (Brazil) and Olivier Pla (France) finished fourth in Saturday’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Chevrolet Sports Car Classic at Belle Isle. TIMO GLOCK TO RACE IN THE DTM AT IMOLA

Timo Glock is back in DTM! After only two race weekends, the ex-Formula 1 driver is making a surprising comeback. The BMW works driver will be a guest driver in the third DTM race weekend (17-19 June) at the legendary Imola Grand Prix circuit, and he will do so with the team of ex-DTM champion Roberto Ravaglia. “Racing in DTM together with Roberto Ravaglia and his team is a cool story,” the 40-year-old is looking forward to his comeback in the long-standing series.
