BEST PORSCHE 911 GT3 R ENDS INCIDENT-PACKED NURBURGRING 24 HOURS IN THE TOP 10

The Porsche 911 GT3 R fielded by the customer team Falken Motorsports has concluded the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in the top 10. Germany’s Sven Müller and Marco Seefried as well as Frenchman Patrick Pilet and Jaxon Evans from New Zealand finished the 50th edition of the Eifel classic in ninth place with the No. 33 Porsche 911 GT3 R. The identical vehicle campaigned by Huber Motorsport driven by the quartet Lars Kern, Nico Menzel, Klaus Rader and Joachim Thyssen secured eleventh place. Despite some highlights, the race ended with bitter disappointments for Porsche’s other customer teams in the SP9 class.

AUDI WINS THE NURBURGRING 24 HOURS

Audi has won the 50th edition of the 24-hour classic at the Nürburgring: After a spectacular race with numerous overtaking maneuvers, lead changes and a dramatic finale with rain showers, Robin Frijns, Kelvin van der Linde, Dries Vanthoor and Frédéric Vervisch celebrated victory with the Audi R8 LMS from Audi Sport Team Phoenix. It is the sixth overall victory in a decade for the brand with the four rings.

BMW M MOTORSPORTS TEAMS UNABLE TO CONVERT STRONG PACE OF THE M4 GT3 INTO GOOD NURBURGRING 24 HOURS RESULTS

The 50th edition of the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring (GER) represented the conclusion to the anniversary week for BMW M GmbH. However, the race debut for the BMW M4 GT3 did not go as well as hoped. The BMW M Motorsport teams showed strong pace, but both cars, from ROWE Racing and the BMW Junior Team, retired after accidents. Schubert Motorsport was in fourth position until just before the finish, only to be forced to retire due to overheating in the engine compartment. BMW M GmbH provided a spectacular support programme around the classic endurance race, which took part in front of an impressive 230,000 fans, to mark its 50th birthday – the highlight being the BMW M Race of Legends on Saturday.

CRAFTSPORTS MOTUL Z TAKES SUPER GT WIN AT SUZUKA

The Takanokono Hotel SUZUKA GT 300km RACE, Round 3 of the 2022 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series took place at Suzuka circuit (one lap 5,807m × 52 laps) in Mie Prefecture on the afternoon of May 29 (Sun). In a rough race that saw the Safety Car brought out twice, the GT500 class winner was the No. 3 CRAFTSPORTS MOTUL Z (Katsumasa Chiyo/Mitsunori Takaboshi) took its first win in the Nissan Z GT500’s debut season. In the GT300 class race, the winner was the No. 7 Studie BMW M4 (Seiji Ara/Tsubasa Kondo).

THE WEDSSPORT ADVAN GR SUPRA TAKES SECOND STRAIGHT SUPER GT POLE POSITION

The qualifying for the Takanoko Hotel SUZUKA GT 300km RACE, Round 3 of the 2022 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series took place at Suzuka Circuit (one lap: 5,807 m) in Mie Prefecture on May 28 (Sat). In the GT500 class, Kunimoto in the No. 19 WedsSport ADVAN GR Supra (Yuji Kunimoto/Sena Sakaguchi) ran a Suzuka course record to take the team’s first pole position in ten years of GT500 class competition. In the GT300 class, Kondo in the No. 7 Studie BMW M4 (Seiji Ara/Tsubasa Kondo) gave the team their first class pole.

BEST PORSCHE 911 GT3 R QUALIFIES IN THE TOP TEN AT THE NURBURGRING

The Porsche 911 GT3 R fielded by the Huber Motorsport customer team will take up the 50th edition of the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring from the ninth grid spot. Nico Menzel (Germany) achieved the fastest lap time with 8:11.928 minutes at the wheel of a GT3 car from Weissach during Friday’s Top Qualifying. The identical ca. 368 kW (500 PS) 911 from Toksport WRT takes up the classic in the Eifel from P14. The fastest of the two 911 GT3 R fielded by Dinamic Motorsport lines up on the grid two positions behind.

AUGUSTO FARFUS PUTS THE ROWE RACING BMW M4 GT3 ON THE FRONT ROW IN NURBURGRING 24 HOURS QUALIFYING

After last year’s pole position with the BMW M6 GT3, ROWE Racing has now marked the debut of the BMW M4 GT3 by making it to the front row of the grid in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring (GER). Augusto Farfus (BRA) posted the second-fastest time of 8:10.640 minutes. In the #72 BMW M4 GT3, Dan Harper (GBR) claimed sixth spot for the BMW Junior Team – directly ahead of Christian Krognes (NOR) from the Walkenhorst Motorsport team in seventh position. Nick Catsburg (NED) drove the second ROWE Racing car to 13th on the grid, after his team-mate Sheldon van der Linde (RSA) set a spectacular best time in Top Qualifying 1. Ben Tuck (GBR) reached 18th place in the #102 BMW M4 GT3 from Walkenhorst Motorsport. The 50th edition of the 24h Nürburgring starts on Saturday at 16:00 CEST.

PORSCHE AIMS TO DEFEND ITS TITLE IN THE EIFEL WITH THE 911 GT3 R

Porsche and its customer teams will make a bid for overall victory with eight 911 GT3 R in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring this coming weekend. Manthey contests the tradition-steeped race as the defending champion. The Eifel marathon celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and is regarded as one of the world’s toughest motorsport challenges. One 25.378-kilometre lap is a combination of the Nordschleife and the Grand Prix circuit. Once again, Porsche racing cars make up the lion’s share of the grid: 46 vehicles from the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer will tackle the endurance classic at 4 pm (CEST) this coming Saturday. No other manufacturer is better represented in the 138-strong field.

NURBURGRING 24 HOURS DEBUT FOR THE NEW BMW M4 GT3

The anniversary week of BMW M GmbH is in full swing. The company was founded on 24th May 1972, and this week it celebrates its 50th birthday at the 50th staging of the Nürburgring 24 Hours (GER). The focus will be on the BMW M4 GT3, which is set for its race debut at the endurance classic, which BMW M Motorsport teams have won 20 times in the past. However, the support programme presented by BMW M is also quite something.
