GRT SHINES AT LAMBORGHINI HOME RACE IN THE DTM

Forza GRT! The Austrian Lamborghini team celebrated their best result to date in the legendary racing series in Saturday’s DTM race at Imola. In a fiercely contested heat battle at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, Mirko Bortolotti and Clemens Schmid kept their cool until the chequered flag and took third and sixth place. Lamborghini factory driver Mirko Bortolotti made up no less than 13 positions in the field of 28 GT3 cars driving the #63 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO. Clemens Schmid had a strong start into the day with fourth place in qualifying and subsequently scored the first points of his DTM career in the race. In the overall standings, Mirko Bortolotti and Grasser Racing remain in second place.

HOT DTM ACTION IN IMOLA AS NICO MULLER LEADS THE WAY IN FREE PRACTICE

It could hardly have been closer: from the fastest driver of the day, Nico Müller (SUI, Team Rosberg, Audi), down to Canadian Mikaël Grenier, who ended up in 22nd place with the Mercedes-AMG run by the GruppeM Racing team, the lap times of the DTM drivers in second free practice at the 4.909 kilometres long Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola ranged within just one second. With his time of 1m 40.909s, Müller was the only driver to post a sub-1m 41s lap time and thus ended up as the fastest on the practice day of the DTM round in the Emilia Romagna region.

BMW PRESENTS THE NEW M4 GT4

With the official presentation in the run-up to the SRO race weekend at the VIRginia International Raceway (USA), BMW M Motorsport has rung in the sales phase of the new BMW M4 GT4, which is set to continue its predecessor’s run of success in the internationally established GT4 category as of the 2023 season. The car was on display with the BMW M Motorsport design for the first time on Friday, having previously successfully completed a test race in camouflage livery at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife (GER). The new BMW M4 GT4 goes on sale with plenty of technical highlights. Production is set to start in October 2022, to allow the first cars to be delivered to teams in time for the start of the 2023 season. 

DXDT READIES TO DEFEND WIN ON HOME TURF AT VIR

After enduring a blistering hot weekend last month in New Orleans, the competitors of the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS head northeast this weekend for rounds five and six of the championship, to be hosted at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR). The No. 63 and No. 08 DXDT Racing Mercedes AMG GT3 cars seek to defend the team’s 2021 win and double-podium weekend June 17-19.

NTE/SSR SEEKS OUT UNFINISHED BUSINESS AT WATKINS GLEN

After taking a brief hiatus from the 2022 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship schedule, Lamborghini customer racing team NTE/SSR is back and ready to race next week at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen. After finishing fourth in the six-hour endurance sports car race last year, the team has unfinished business at the event, hungry as ever to score their first podium finish as a group. This year’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen will bring together NTE/SSR regular co-drivers Don Yount and Jaden Conwright with Marco Holzer returning, racing the No. 42 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo.

GRT ARRIVES IN IMOLA CHASING THEIR FIRST WIN IN THE DTM

The third round of the 2022 DTM season is preparing a special kind of home fixture for GRT this coming weekend. For the Austrian Lamborghini team, the home races of Lamborghini in the prestigious GT3 series are on the agenda from 17 to 19 June. On the iconic Grand Prix circuit of Imola, GRT wants to build on its successful start to the season with their four Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVOs. Mirko Bortolotti and his compatriot Alessio Deledda will compete as local heroes in Italy alongside their teammates Rolf Ineichen and Clemens Schmid.

PORSCHE GT TEAM FIGHTING FOR THE WIN AT LE MANS

The Porsche GT Team is leading the GTE-Pro class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. After putting in strong drives through the night in their No. 92 Porsche 911 RSR, Kévin Estre, Michael Christensen and Laurens Vanthoor have built a gap at the front of more than a minute with eight hours of racing to go. In 2018, this trio from France, Denmark and Belgium achieved a class win here at the world’s greatest endurance race. The No. 91 sister car is currently running fourth after almost 16 hours of racing. In the GTE-Am class, the customer teams WeatherTech Racing and Hardpoint still have realistic chances of winning.

STRONG START AT LE MANS FOR PORSCHE AND ITS CUSTOMER TEAMS

The Porsche GT Team and the customer squads have put in strong drives in the opening phase of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. At the four-hour mark, the two Porsche 911 RSR fielded by the works team are currently running in second and third in the fiercely contested GTE-Pro class. In the GTE-Am category, the 911 entries from WeatherTech Racing and Dempsey-Proton Racing lead the 23-strong field after a thrilling early phase in France.

PORSCHE GT TEAM STARTS THE LE MANS 24 HOURS FROM THE SECOND GRID ROW

The two 911 RSR fielded by the Porsche GT Team will take up this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans from the second grid row. In the Hyperpole session, the two works drivers Frédéric Makowiecki from France and Laurens Vanthoor from Belgium planted the two ca. 378 kW (515 PS) 911 racers on positions three and four. In the GTE-Am class, Britain’s Harry Tincknell secured the third grid spot at the wheel of the No. 77 car campaigned by the customer team Dempsey-Proton Racing.
