LAMBORGHINI SUPER TROFEO NORTH AMERICA MID OHIO WEEKEND RACE RECAP

The first race of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North American series for 2018 began was closely contested in the first half before two full-field cautions helped decide the outcome at the 12-turn, 2.258-mile Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The race marked the beginning of the sixth edition of the Lamborghini one-make series in North American and the start here of the 10th season worldwide of the series.

SECOND IMSA WIN OF THE SEASON FOR THE PORSCHE 911 RSR

Clinching the second win of the season at Mid-Ohio, Porsche grabbed the lead of the IMSA SportsCar Championship. In a nail-biting finale, Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium) and Earl Bamber (New Zealand) snatched victory with the 510 hp Porsche 911 RSR on Sunday at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and celebrated their first win in the USA as teammates at the most gripping race of the season by now.

BMW TEAM RLL FINISHES 2nd AND 7th AT MID-OHIO

The No. 25 BMW M8 GTE of Connor De Phillippi and Alexander Sims raced to a well-deserved second place finish in today’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio, taking the checkered flag 1.673 seconds behind the race winning No. 912 Porsche. The result was the team’s second runner-up finish of the season and the 70th podium finish since 2009. After starting from the pole, John Edwards and Jesse Krohn had an unfortunate race to finish seventh in the No. 24 M8 GTE.

DI AMATO-MONTERMINI SCORE THEIR FIRST GT OPEN WIN

The RS Racing Ferrari 488 took its maiden win in the International GT Open, as Daniele Di Amato and Andrea Montermini emerged in a dramatic and closely-fought finale. They beat the two Teo Martín BMs of Juan Cruz Álvarez-Lourenço Beirão (who took the lead after the pit stops) and yesterday’s winners, Fran Rueda-Andrés Saravia. The Spaniard and the Guatemalan are now second in the overall standings, closing to 13 points the gap with respect to Mikkel Mac, today fifth.
