PORSCHE CARRERA CUP AUSTRALIA CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLES INTENSIFY AS TITLE RIVALS MAKE THEIR MARK

What was a three-way championship battle has become a fight between five as the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Championship reaches what is set to be a hugely competitive end to the season. Meanwhile, the ever-fluctuating Morris Pro-Am championship remains on a knife’s edge with a key contender yet to stamp their authority on a pulsating championship battle across the first six rounds this year.

PORSCHE WINS ALL IMSA GTD PRO TITLES WITH PFAFF MOTORSPORTS

Porsche has won the manufacturer’s championship in the GTD-Pro class. The customer team Pfaff Motorsports secured the title, with Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet crowned the new driver champions. These were the results after the finale of the 2022 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship. The Porsche customer team from Canada finished the Petit Le Mans race at Road Atlanta in third place. The Porsche 911 GT3 R fielded by Wright Motorsports crossed the finish line in fourth place in the GTD category.

WRIGHT MOTORSPORTS FINISHES RUNNER UP IN WEATHERTECH SPORTSCAR CHAMPIONSHIP

When Wright Motorsports secured their monumental victory at the Rolex 24 At Daytona in January, the Porsche customer racing team immediately showed they would be a championship contender for the 2022 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Sunday at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, the battle for the GTD class title came down to the final laps, and with a fourth-place finish, the Wright Motorsports Porsche finished as runner-up in the championship standings.

Porsche Carrera Cup North America Presented by the Cayman Islands recognizes the successes of its season at tonight’s Celebration of Champions. Each of the three drivers’ championships: Pro, Pro-Am and Am came down to the final 40-minute race of the premier Porsche one-make race series on Friday, September 30 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Tonight, the fruits of a 16-race labor for 48 drivers and 19 teams as well as series officials and partners were acknowledged by Porsche Motorsport North America (PMNA). 

K-PAX RACING NAMES 2022 INDY LINE-UP

K-PAX Racing proudly announced Friday its 2022 Indianapolis 8 Hour line-up. The team, after clinching the Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS Championship early in the penultimate rounds of the season at Sebring International Raceway, will stage its regular two-car Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO effort at the famous Brickyard with an expanded driver line-up to meet the requirements of the endurance race format.

PORSCHE 963 TO COMPETE IN NORTH AMERICA WITH PROVEN LUCKY NUMBERS

The two Porsche 963 from Porsche Penske Motorsport will tackle the 2023 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship flying the race numbers 6 and 7. These digits are well known to the partners, Team Penske and Porsche, from their joint effort with the RS Spyder – and are associated with many great memories for both world-class companies. The ca. 500 kW (680 PS) hybrid prototype for the newly created GTP class will be showcased to the public for the first time in the USA at the final weekend of the 2022 IMSA season at Road Atlanta.

THOMPSON WINS IN PORSCHE CARRERA CUP NORTH AMERICA IN ATLANTA TAKING CHAMPIONSHIP TO TOMORROW’S FINALE

Parker Thompson (Canadian-native living in Indianapolis, Indiana) drove a flawless race to earn his fifth win of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America Presented by the Cayman Islands season today at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. His victory at the Braselton, Georgia-track moved the No. 9 JDX Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car to within five points of the Pro class championship leader Kay van Berlo (native of the Netherlands studying in Miami, Florida) with one race remaining to be run. In the Pro-Am class, Efrin Castro (Dominican Republic) won his eighth race of the season on the 2.54-mile, 12-turn circuit. It moved his No. 65 Kelly Moss Porsche to within nine points of leader and teammate Alan Metni (Austin, Texas) in the No. 99. The Am class also saw the title contenders finish one-two with John Goetz (Weston, Connecticut) piloting the No. 57 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car to a second victory of the year just ahead of championship leader Mark Kvamme (Columbus, Ohio). Goetz trails the No. 43 MDK Motorsports machine by 11 points.
