HUBAUTO FERRARI CLAIMS SUZUKA 10 HOUR POLE; MERCEDES-AMG GRUPPEM BEST INTERCONTINENTAL GT CHALLENGE ENTRY IN P2

HubAuto Corsa’s Nick Foster has claimed pole position for tomorrow’s inaugural Suzuka 10 Hours after beating Mercedes-AMG Team GruppeM Racing’s Raffaele Marciello in today’s qualifying session. However, the Italian still finished fastest of the Intercontinental GT Challenge entries ahead of the global GT championship’s third race of the season.

COREY LEWIS RETURNS TO PAUL MILLER RACING FOR PETIT LE MANS

As Paul Miller Racing continues to hold the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship points lead with just two races remaining, the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 sports car team has signed Corey Lewis to return for the season finale event, the 21st Annual Motul Petit Le Mans. Paul Miller Racing took the IMSA GTD points championship lead in round two when drivers Bryan Sellers, Madison Snow, and endurance addition Corey Lewis drove the No. 48  to victory at the legendary Twelve Hours of Sebring.

McLAREN 720S GT3 RACE CAR ON TRACK FOR 2019 DEBUT WITH CUSTOMER TEAMS AS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME INTENSIFIES

Track testing of the first GT race car to be developed by McLaren Automotive’s new customer racing division is well underway and will see the McLaren 720S GT3 test extensively across Europe, the US and Middle East. The new GT3 challenger, which is based on the acclaimed 720S supercar, is being readied for its competition debut in 2019 when it will be eligible for all GT3 grids globally.

TAN FORCED TO SETTLE FOR SECOND AT SILVERSTONE AFTER PUNCTURE DEFLATES VICTORY CHARGE

Weiron Tan was on-track for a famous victory in last weekend’s 6 Hours of Silverstone (17-19 August) until a mid-race puncture scuppered his and his team-mates’ challenge, but the highly-rated Malaysian Chinese ace nevertheless went on to secure his maiden podium finish in the FIA World Endurance Championship – outperforming a host of seriously big names along the way.

Aston Martin Racing made a great step forward for the 6 Hours of Silverstone, and it was really satisfying to finish fourth with Maxime Martin in the latest round of the FIA World Endurance Championship. This was only the third race for the new Aston Martin Vantage GTE, and overall, in every department, I think the whole car has taken a massive step forward. And as a team we loved the whole weekend, being at home, and being at the sharp end of the field in the GTE Pro class.

REBELLION RACING SECURES ROYAL AUTOMOBILE CLUB’S TOURIST TROPHY

The Rebellion Racing R13 Gibson of Mathias Beche, Thomas Laurent and Gustavo Menezes won the 6 Hours of Silverstone on 19 August to claim the Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy. The result came following the dramatic exclusion of both Toyotas, which had finished one-two on the road in front of a crowd of more than 60,000 enthusiasts as the World Endurance Championship made its annual visit to the UK.

PORSCHE CUSTOMER TO TEAMS CONTEST ENDURANCE HIGHLIGHT IN THE FAR EAST

Five Porsche 911 GT3 R racers will tackle the Suzuka 10 Hours on 26 August. For the first time, the 47th running of the Summer Endurance Race on Japan’s Grand Prix circuit counts towards the Intercontinental GT Challenge. Manthey-Racing, Craft-Bamboo Racing and Black Swan Racing will each field one 911 GT3 R, with D’station Racing campaigning two vehicles. All four Porsche customer teams receive support from works drivers and engineers from Weissach at the endurance highlight in Asia. Seven works drivers and one Porsche Young Professional share driving duties in the ca. 500-hp vehicles. Currently, 35 race cars are entered for the race on the 5.807-kilometre Suzuka Circuit. The field is made up predominantly of vehicles that comply with FIA GT3 regulations and cars from the GT300 class of the Japanese Super GT Series.
