PANOZ WINS 2018 PWC GTS SPRINT/SPRINT-X MANUFACTURE’S CHAMPIONSHIP

Ian James secured his fourth and fifth pole of the 2018 season at Watkins Glen this weekend and followed through to secure his fifth win, sixth class win, in today’s Race 2 at Watkins Glen International. This comes after a second-place finish in yesterday’s Race 1. Calculating points, this also secures Panoz the GTS Sprint/Sprint-X Manufacturer’s Championship title, thanks to the number of wins. 

BHURIT BHIROMBHAKDI STORMS TO VICTORY IN ROUND SIX OF THE AUDI SPORTS R8 LMS CUP

Scores of fans flocked to the 4.01km Ningbo International Speedpark for the final day of the Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup debut, where Singha Plan-B by Absolute Racing’s Bhurit Bhirombhakdi took a dominant victory in round six of the championship. The Thai driver snatched the lead from pole-sitter Andrew Haryanto of ProMax Team in the early stages of the 16-lap race, putting himself more than 11 seconds ahead of the Indonesian, who crossed the line in second.

VISSER AND MENZEL LEAD RN VISION STS GT4 EUROPEAN SERIES 1-2 IN BUDAPEST

Beitske Visser and Nico Menzel took their victory in the 2018 GT4 European Series at the Hungaroring today. They beat teammates Gabriele Piana and Razvan Umbrarescu in an RN Vision STS 1-2 finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix circuit. Victory in the Pro-Am class went to Racing One’s Jules Szymkowiak and Markus Lungstrass again, with Allied-Racing’s Nicolas Schöll also claiming his second win of the weekend in the Am class.

MDM MOTORSPORT WINS RAIN-DRENCHED OPENING GT4 EUROPEAN SERIES BUDAPEST RACE

MDM Motorsport drivers Max Koebolt and Simon Knap won the first GT4 European Series race at the Hungaroring after heading the field home in a shortened rain-affected race. A heavy rain shower during the pit window resulted in different strategies and MDM Motorsport’s gamble to stay out on slicks eventually paid off when the race was stopped due to the dangerous conditions. Racing One’s Jules Szymkowiak and Markus Lungstrass and Allied-Racing’s Nicolas Schöll claimed class wins with similar strategies.

CRP RACING MAKES FINAL PWC CHAMPIONSHIP EFFORT AT WATKINS GLEN

The 2018 Pirelli World Challenge season has been filled with attrition for GT team CRP Racing. Despite the setbacks, the Mercedes AMG GT3 team is looking to finish on a high note at this weekend’s season finale at Watkins Glen International, currently sitting fifth in the point standings. Three time Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) champion Michael Cooper will return to reprise his role as driver of the No. 2 Mercedes AMG GT3.

HARPER STORMS TO PORSCHE CARRERA CUP GB KNOCKHILL POLE POSITION

Dan Harper (JTR), the 17-year-old Porsche GB 2018 / 2019 Junior, claimed the second pole position of his Carrera Cup GB career in qualifying for round eleven of the championship at Knockhill. Harper was one of only three drivers to lap the unique Scottish circuit in under 49 seconds, he will start tomorrow’s race alongside team mate Lewis Plato (JTR). Less than a second covered the top eleven drivers on the grid in qualifying, the overall top three were separated by just 0.144s.
