CREVENTIC FINALISES CALENDAR PLANNING FOR 2019

Following the announcement of the provisional calendars of its various series for 2019 during the season finale at Spa-Francorchamps a few weeks ago, Dutch agency CREVENTIC has now finalised its calendar planning for the upcoming season. As a result, the final calendars of, the CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE CONTINENTS, the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP and the GT & PROTO CHAMPIONSHIP have now been published and submitted to the FIA.

JAGUAR I-PACE ETROPHY COMPLETES FINAL PRE-SEASON TEST

Pre-season testing for the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY championship took place this week at Rockingham Motor Speedway, Europe’s fastest racing circuit. Previously announced entrants Katherine Legge, Bryan Sellers, Cacá Bueno, Sérgio Jimenez and Simon Evans were joined by confirmed multi-car entrants from Saudi Arabia, China and Germany, who are due to announce their team and driver details in November.

BELL AND GMG RACING TEAM LEAD CALIFORNIA 8 HOURS BUT PLAGUED BY BAD LUCK IN FINAL TWO HOURS

Entering the event with their sights set on a podium result, Jason Bell and his GMG Racing squad attacked 2.238-mile long WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Teamed with a pair of fellow Audi R8 GT4 LMS drivers, the trio took on the California 8 Hours Intercontinental GT Challenge this past weekend. Showing speed and advancing forward from their fifth place starting position to lead in class, Bell, James Sofronas and Andrew Davis would be denied of the victory with issues in the latter stages of the eight-hour endurance event.

ANOTHER ELMS PODIUM FOR PANIS-BARTHEZ COMPETITION

From its arrival on Wednesday at the circuit of Portimao, a day dedicated to private testing, the French team is at the forefront by finishing 2 of the 3 sessions at the top of the rankings. The two free practice sessions on Friday and Saturday were dedicated to tweaking the settings for the qualifications. The job was rewarded with the second place of Will Stevens only 60 thousandths behind the pole man.

WHO WILL BE THE 2019 PORSCHE JUNIOR?

Eleven young upcoming racing drivers dream of taking the next step in their motor racing careers – to be accepted into the Porsche Motorsport Junior Programme. In their bid for this, the talented youngsters took part in a three-day selection process in the southern French town of Le Castellet. In addition to setting consistently fast lap times, the candidates focused on working with the Porsche engineers. On the 3.862-kilometre Circuit Paul Ricard near the Côte d’Azur, the aspirants competed against each other in identical 485 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racers. The international line-up of participants was nominated to take part in the shootout by the national Porsche one-make cup series around the world. The winner, who will be announced in a few weeks, receives support as a Porsche Junior for their 2019 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup campaign.

GT Open: happy ending for Lamborghini in Barcelona

Two victories and two titles. International GT Open season successfully completed for Lamborghini: Andrea Rizzoli and Damiano Fioravanti took the first GT Open victory of the year for the #12 Ombra Racing Lamborghini at the end of race 1; #25 Imperiale Racing duo, Riccardo Agostini and Rik Breukers, grabbed race 2 win. The second win of the weekend for Lamborghini also sanctioned the success of Imperiale Racing in the Teams’ standings.

AUDI TAKE WIN AND IGTC MANUFACTURERS’ TITLE, MERCEDES-AMG DRIVER TRISTAN VAUTIER NEW DRIVERS’ CHAMPION

The second edition of the California 8 Hours proved to be an exciting end to the 2018 Intercontinental GT Challenge. Only in the final minutes of the race on the Laguna Seca Raceway were the drivers’, manufacturers’ and Bronze drivers’ titles decided. In the end Audi claimed a third consecutive manufacturers’ crown, while third was enough to let Tristan Vautier become the new drivers’ champion. Although he did not have the easiest of races, Kenny Habul became the inaugural Bronze Drivers’ champion.
