ANDREW HARYANTO CROWNED 2018 AUDI SPORT R8 LMS CUP CHAMPION

 ProMax Team’s Andrew Haryanto was crowned the 2018 Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup champion after a dramatic season finale at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit. The Indonesian’s victory in round 10 secured him the title by just five points from rival Bhurit Bhirombhakdi of Singha Plan-B by Absolute Racing. Third in the final standings was Yasser Shahin of The Bend Motorsport Park, after crossing the line fourth in round 10 despite carrying 40kg of success ballast. Completing the podium in round 10 was pole-sitter Jeffrey Lee of Team Audi Volkswagen Taiwan, his impressive haul of 28 points over the Malaysian weekend securing the final “Road to Spa” seat.

The penultimate race of the 2018 Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup under the floodlights of the Sepang International Circuit has set up a nail-biting season finale. ProMax Team’s Andrew Haryanto took his second victory of the year to close the gap to just two points from championship-leader Bhurit Bhirombhakdi of Singha Plan-B by Absolute Racing, who was third across the line. Despite carrying 20kg of success ballast, The Bend Motorsport Park’s Yasser Shahin thundered to second place on his night race and Sepang Circuit debut.

Four drivers remain in contention for the title – points leader Bhurit Bhirombhakdi of Singha Plan-B by Absolute Racing, ProMax Team’s Andrew Haryanto, The Bend Motorsport Park’s Yasser Shahin and Sun Jingzu of Absolute Racing, with the winner receiving a one-of-a-kind production Audi R8.
