MERCEDES-AMG WITH STRONG LINE-UP FOR THE 24 HOURS OF SPA

In the packed race calendar for the second half of the year, another endurance racing highlight is imminent for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport: the 24-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps (22-25 October). With ten Mercedes-AMG GT3s, the performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach has, according to the current situation, the largest contingent of all the manufacturers that will be competing in the 72nd running of the classic. One car each for AKKA ASP Team and Haupt Racing Team will be racing with extended works support and ranks among the favourites at the seven kilometres long track in the Belgian Ardennes. 

FLYING LIZARD MOTORSPORTS SWEEPS HT4 AMERICA SPRINT, SPRINTX CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES

Following a climactic conclusion to the 2020 GT4 America season at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Flying Lizard Motorsports collected four championship titles to add to their illustrious history. Michael Dinan, driver of the No. 210 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 secured the Sprint Am driver championship, and together with co-driver Robby Foley in the No. 21 Aston Martin, clinched the SprintX Pro/Am Championship. Dinan and Foley’s performances, combined with the results from teammates Erin Vogel and Michael Cooper in the No. 30 McLaren 570s GT3, secured Flying Lizard Motorsports the 2020 Sprint and SprintX Team Championship titles, netting the California-based team their seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth championship titles since 2003.

PORSCHE GT TEAM AND IMSA BACK TO NORTH CAROLINA ROVAL

20 years ago IMSA held its only race to-date at the Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS) with Porsche holding nearly half the starting spots. Since that time much has changed in the sport and at the Concord, North Carolina track. It will all come back together on Saturday October 10 when three Porsche-built race cars will challenge the Charlotte “ROVAL” for 100-minutes in the race.

RETURNEE BRINGS UPTICK FOR BWT MUCKE MOTORSPORT AT THE SACHSENRING

n the run-up to the fourth fixture of the 2020 ADAC GT Masters at the Sachsenring, BWT Mücke Motorsport had to change their driver line-up: Mike Beckhusen was out with a shoulder injury, so Mike David Ortmann stepped in to take his seat in the number 25 BWT Audi R8 LMS. The 20-year-old is a familiar face in the Berlin-based outfit, having competed for them from 2017 to 2019. On his comeback, he was to share a cockpit with Igor Walilko. The driver pairing for the sister car remained unchanged, with Stefan Mücke partnering Ricardo Feller in the number 26 BWT Audi R8 LMS.

HEROIC EFFORT BY K-PAX RACING EARNS ITS DRIVERS POINTS IN INDIANAPOLIS 8 HOUR

K-PAX Racing has long been recognized for its rigorous attention to detail, and in Sunday’s Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) Powered by Pirelli Indianapolis 8 Hour, the team was able to show how strong its operation is piece-by-piece, putting forth a unified effort that displayed the team’s ability to produce both a winning and resilient program. The team was able to finish in the top-10 of GT3 competitors qualified to earn IGTC points, helping its driver roster continue to fight for the coveted championship.

THE DENSO KOBELCO SARD GR OUT RACES THE SUPER GT FIELD AT FUJI

The Takanokono Hotel FUJI GT 300km RACE, Round 5 of the 2020 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series, was held at the Fuji Speedway (one lap 4,563m×66 laps) in Shizuoka Prefecture on October 4 (Sun). In the GT500 class, the No. 39 DENSO KOBELCO SARD GR Supra (Heikki Kovalainen/Yuichi Nakayama) came from 5th place on the starting grid to run away in the final stages and take its first win of the season. In the GT300 class, REALIZE NISSAN AUTOMOBILE TECHNICAL COLLEGE GT-R (Kiyoto Fujinami/Joao Paulo de Oliveira) gave team manager Masahiko Kondo’ team its first class victory.

ARTA NSX-GT TAKES ITS SECOND STRAIGHT SUPER GT POLE AT FUJI

The qualifying for the Takanokono Hotel FUJI GT 300km RACE, Round 5 of the 2020 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series, was held at the Fuji Speedway in Shizuoka Prefecture on October 3 (Sat). In the GT500 class, the pole position was taken by Fukuzumi in the No. 8 ARTA NSX-GT (Tomoki Nojiri /Nirei Fukuzumi). In the GT300 class, it was Kotaka in the No. 6 ADVICS muta MC86 Ryohei Sakaguchi/Kazuto Kotaka) that took the class pole. For both teams it was their second straight pole position at Fuji following Round 2. These two cars will start tomorrow’s race from the front position in their respective class grids at 13:30 in the afternoon.
