NIELSEN RACING, PORTIMAO WINNERS

Colin Noble and Tony Wells are the winners in yesterday’s final round of the 2020 Michelin Le Mans Cup at Portimão after an inspired call from the pits and fantastic restart from Colin to vault them from fifth into second and within an arm’s reach to the lead. With the #26 Graff Racing entry incurring a drive-through time penalty, Colin remined behind close behind to ensure the victory without the risk.

AUDI DUO HOFER AND HAASE WIN RAIN-AFFECTED ADAC GT MASTERS SATURDAY THRILLER AT THE LAUSITZRING

Saturday’s ADAC GT Masters race at the Lausitzring was suspenseful right up to the last few metres. The Audi pairing of Max Hofer (21, AUT) and Christopher Haase (33, GER, both Montaplast by Land Motorsport) won by a margin of only 0.147 seconds ahead of Indy Dontje (27, NL) and Maximilian Götz (34, GER) in the Mercedes-AMG of Mann-Filter-Team HTP-Winward. Robert Renauer (35, GER, Precote Herberth Motorsport), partnered this time by Klaus Bachler (29, AUT), kept his title hopes alive with a P3 finish. Reigning champions Patric Niederhauser (29, CH) and Kelvin van der Linde (24, ZA) in the Rutronik Racing Audi retain their lead in the overall standings. “I am very satisfied” said winner Christopher Haase afterwards. “Our team has given us a really great car. It is great to have got another win in the ADAC GT Masters. Only if you have the best package you can win here. And that’s what we had today.”

Last weekend, the Total 24 Hours of Spa staged its 20th edition since GT rules were introduced in 2001. We had to wait a little longer than anticipated to celebrate the milestone, while the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic altered the character of this year’s event. 

PORSCHE ONE-TWO IN RAIN-HIT ADAC GT MASTERS LAUSITZRING PRACTICE SESSION

The ADAC GT Masters title contenders dominated a rain-hit first practice session at the Lausitzring. Porsche driver Robert Renauer (35, GER, Precote Herberth Motorsport) managed to set the fastest time on Friday morning, followed by three more drivers from the Top Five in the standings – Christian Engelhart (33, GER, SSR Performance) also in a Porsche, Lamborghini driver Albert Costa Balboa (30, ESP, GRT Grasser Racing) and championship leader Kelvin van der Linde (24, ZA, Rutronik Racing).

PURE EXCITEMENT AS ADAC GT MASTERS TITLE CHASE GOES INTO PENULTIMATE ROUND

It’s all go as the DEKRA Lausitzring prepares to host the sixth of the seven fixtures on the 2020 ADAC GT Masters calendar this coming weekend (30th October – 1st November). The previous race event at the Red Bull Ring left the title chase even wider open than before, with championship leaders Patric Niederhauser (29, CH) and Kelvin van der Linde (24, ZA, both Rutronik Racing) nursing only a one-point lead over their closest challengers, Michael Ammermüller (34, GER) and Christian Engelhart (33, GER) in the Porsche fielded by SSR Performance. The third-placed pairing of Mercedes-AMG drivers Luca Stolz (25, GER) and Maro Engel (35, Monte Carlo, both Toksport WRT) are also within striking distance.

PORSCHE GT TEAM AND WRIGHT MOTORSPORTS READY FOR IMSA ROUND IN MONTEREY

2020 has been a challenging year for Porsche in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Entering the tenth race of the 11-event season, two Porsche factory and one customer team comes to the Monterey Peninsula in California searching to keeping driving the momentum. It took nine rounds of North America’s premier sports car racing series for the series’ 2019 GTLM class Manufacturer Champions to score a first victory in the 11-race season. That win – a record-extending 24th for a manufacturer in the Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta – came to the No. 911 Porsche GT Team Porsche 911 RSR-19 which will be piloted by Frédéric Makowiecki (France) and Nick Tandy (Great Britain) in the Monterey Sports Car Championship on Sunday, November 1. Still looking for their first victory of the season at the two-hour, 40-minute headline event at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca are 2019 Team and Driver Champions Earl Bamber (New Zealand) and Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium) in the No. 912 entry. Also in search of its first GTD class race win is the No. 16 Porsche 911 GT3 R race car prepared by Wright Motorsports for Porsche factory ace Patrick Long (Manhattan Beach, California) and Ryan Hardwick (Atlanta, Georgia).
