SEVEN IMSA YEARS, SEVEN TITLES: THE PORSCHE 911 RSR IN NORTH AMERICA

Porsche’s factory campaign in the North American sports car scene came to an end for at the moment last weekend with the final outing in Sebring. At the twelve-hour race in Florida, the Porsche GT Team and its long-standing partner Core Autosport once again made a strong impression: At a spectacular final round of the season, the two Porsche 911 RSR took the flag in first and second place. The emotional and extremely successful farewell from the fiercely competitive GTLM class contested by numerous manufacturers in North America concludes a seven-year programme that yielded an outstanding record: Seven title wins in the IMSA series, five championships in the North American Endurance Cup, 21 race wins and 56 podium results went to Porsche.

K-PAX RACING COMPLETES GT WORLD CHALLENGE EUROPE SEASON

The 2020 GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Endurance Cup season was one that initially begged patience to K-PAX Racing following an early-departure from Circuit Paul Ricard in March amid travel bans imposed under a global pandemic. The team, having three top-10 finishes to its credit since in the series, was able to make its return back to South France Sunday, making tracks at its fourth European track this season to a 13th-place finish – putting an exclamation point on a unique season of perseverance and hard work in the team’s challenging debut season.

2021 LAMBORGHINI SUPER TROFEO EUROPE, NORTH AMERICA AND ASIA CALENDARS UNVEILED

Lamborghini has unveiled the race calendars for its three Super Trofeo championships for the 2021 season. Running from April to October, the one-make category reserved for Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evos will be represented in Europe, North America and Asia, with the traditional end-of-year Lamborghini World Finals taking place at Misano Adriatico in Italy. Following its cancellation in 2020 after the outbreak of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, Super Trofeo Asia will make its return to the calendar next season with five rounds, while the World Finals remains at Misano, having been cancelled in 2020.

MERCEDES-AMG MOTORSPORT SECURES MANUFACTURERS’ AND DRIVERS’ TITLE IN GT WORLD CHALLENGE EUROPE SEASON FINALE

Mercedes-AMG Motorsport claims the overall title in the 2020 GT World Challenge Europe with Timur Boguslavskiy (RUS) of the Mercedes-AMG Team AKKA ASP, teammate Raffaele Marciello (ITA) follows in third place. The manufacturers’ title also goes to Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. In the season finale, Mercedes-AMG Team HRT secured the best result of the day with the Mercedes-AMG GT3: Vincent Abril (MON), Maro Engel and Luca Stolz (both GER) finished in sixth place in the 6-hour race. In the overall Silver Cup standings, Ezequiel Perez Companc (ARG) and Madpanda Motorsport also secured the titles. This weekend, their Mercedes-AMG colleagues Sergei Afanasiev (RUS), Michele Beretta (ITA) and Hubert Haupt (GER) of Haupt Racing Team (#5) secured the best race result in this category, scoring a podium slot by finishing in third place.

STONEMAN CROWNED LAMBORGHINI SUPER TROFEO EUROPE CHAMPION AT PAUL RICARD

Leipert Motorsport’s Sebastian Balthasar and Noah Watt secured their maiden Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe win in the final race of the season at Paul Ricard, while Dean Stoneman (Bonaldi Motorsport) wrapped up the title with a second-place finish. Stoneman’s chief championship rival Kevin Gilardoni (Oregon Team) had been running ahead of Stoneman early in the race, but his title aspirations disappeared following a spin at Turn 2.

HAWKEY AND GRAHAM CROWNED AS PORSCHE GB JUNIOR KING WINS AT CARRERA CUP GB CHAMPIONSHIP FINALE

Porsche Carrera Cup GB – the fastest single marque GT racing championship in the UK – returned to Kent for the championship finale, this time taking place on the short and challenging Brands Hatch Indy circuit. Lorcan Hanafin (JTR) emerged as the fastest driver following Friday’s two Free Practice sessions which took place in mixed conditions. Ryan Ratcliffe (Team Parker) entered the weekend with a slim mathematical chance of Pro-Am title glory, he ended Friday as the fastest driver in the category, Am was topped by newly crowned 2020 category champion Justin Sherwood (Team Parker Racing). 

TITLE WIN IN THE ENDURANCE CUP AND RUNNER-UP POSITIONS IN THE IMSA GTLM CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR BMW TEAM RLL

BMW Team RLL rounded off the 2020 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IMSA) with a GTLM podium finish at the Twelve Hours of Sebring (USA). After 12 dramatic hours of racing, the #24 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE crossed the line in third place. At the season finale, BMW Team RLL secured the GTLM driver’s title in the Michelin Endurance Cup for John Edwards (USA) and Jesse Krohn (FIN) as well as first places in the team and manufacturer standings for this season’s four-race endurance competition. The #25 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE came home in fourth place after 

LAMBORGHINI CLINCHES IMSA ENDURANCE CUP GTD TITLES IN SEBRING 12 HOURS FINALE

Lamborghini secured a clean-sweep of the IMSA SportsCar Championship GT Daytona Michelin Endurance Cup titles courtesy of Paul Miller Racing at the season-closing Sebring 12 Hours. The Michelin Endurance Cup comprises of four rounds across the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season with a total of 52 hours of racing. The Endurance Cup began at the 24 Hours of Daytona before heading to Road Atlanta for the Petit Le Mans, with the 68th running of the Sebring 12 Hours completing the year.
