TESTING IN FULL SWING FOR THE BMW M4 GT3

2021 is the final year in the development phase of the BMW M4 GT3, due to do battle for wins and titles in GT races around the world for BMW M Motorsport teams as of 2022. The new flagship in the BMW M Motorsport portfolio of cars has been taking part in testing weeks at the Spanish racetracks of Monteblanco and Almeria since the start of the year and in doing so has rung in the crucial stage ahead of the initial race appearances. Covering more than 12,000 kilometres already – which equates to more than 60 hours on the track – numerous BMW drivers have worked extremely hard on drivability and reliability, the objective being to significantly reduce the lifecycle costs and maintenance effort compared with the predecessor model. The close collaboration between BMW M Motorsport and the series developers at BMW M GmbH, as well as making use of the BMW Group’s testing facilities, both make an important contribution to the progress of the BMW M4 GT3.

KCMG TO BEGIN NÜRBURGRING 24 HOURS PREPARATION AT NLS 1

KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) will take on the Nordschleife for the first time in 2021 on March 27 as their preparation for the Nürburgring 24 Hours gets underway. The team is set to compete at the opening round of the 2021 Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie (NLS) this weekend, their first of a selection of events in the NLS season ahead of their third appearance at the famously challenging endurance race.

MERCEDES-AMG MOTORSPORT GETS COUNTDOWN FOR THE 24-HOUR RACE UNDERWAY WITH NLS SEASON OPENER

The first of nine rounds kicks off the season of the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) this Saturday (27thMarch). The NLS rounds are regular fixtures on Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing’s competition calendar and, next to the goal of winning as many races at the Nordschleife as possible, also traditionally serve as preparation for the season highlight that is the ADAC TOTAL 24h-Rennen. This year, at least three teams with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 will be facing this challenge: GetSpeed Performance, Haupt Racing Team and 10Q Racing Team. In the process, two Mercedes-AMG GT3s each from GetSpeed and HRT will be competing in the Nürburgring season with extended support from Affalterbach. The strong driver line-up includes many well-known and long-standing Mercedes-AMG Drivers as well as, among others, four former winners of the 24-hour race.

ERA MOTORSPORT FINISHES SECOND IN SEBRING TWELVE HOURS DEBUT

In their first attempt at the Twelve Hours of Sebring, Era Motorsport earned a second-place finish on Saturday in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship event. The No. 18 Oreca of Kyle Tilley, Dwight Merriman, and Ryan Dalziel started third and endured a long twelve hours of racing to earn the coveted podium position, two months after celebrating victory at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

DOUBLE PODIUM FOR BMW TEAM RLL AT THE TWELVE HOURS OF SEBRING

BMW Team RLL has claimed a double podium at the Twelve Hours of Sebring (USA). After 333 eventful laps of racing, the #25 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE, driven by Connor De Phillippi (USA), Bruno Spengler (CAN) and Philipp Eng (AUT), crossed the line second in the GTLM class. John Edwards (USA), Jesse Krohn (FIN) and Augusto Farfus (BRA) completed the podium with third place in the #24 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE. The classic race in the US state of Florida was the second major endurance event of the season in North America.

BMW TEAM RLL QUALIFIES THIRD AND FOURTH FOR THE 12 HOURS OF SEBRING

BMW Team RLL will start tomorrow’s IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Twelve Hours of Sebring from the second row of the GTLM grid following third and fourth place qualifying efforts from Connor De Phillippi and Jesse Krohn this afternoon. De Phillippi qualified the No. 25 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE third with a time of 1:55.062 minutes around the Sebring International Raceway, 0.219 seconds ahead of Jesse Krohn’s 1:55.251-minute lap in the No. 24 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE. Both BMWs were within only 0.317 seconds of the pole-winning Corvette. De Phillippi will co-drive with Bruno Spengler and Philipp Eng tomorrow, while Krohn will share the No. 24 M8 with John Edwards and Augusto Farfus.

AUDI SPORT CUSTOMER TEAMS READY FOR 2021 EUROPEAN SEASON

Following last year’s first event at the Lausitzring and a date at Portimão, Audi Sport customer racing organized a joint test with customer teams for the third time. On the Vallelunga circuit north of Rome, up to 13 race cars with the four rings were on the road for three days. The test days served to prepare for the European season after teams in America, Asia and Australia have already clinched their first trophies since January.

PORSCHE SPECIALISTS IN SECOND 911 GT3 R FOR KUS TEAM BERNHARD IN 2021 ADAC GT MASTERS

Two young Porsche specialists complete the driving line-up for Küs Team Bernhard in the ADAC GT Masters: in Jannes Fittje (21/Langenhain) and Porsche Supercup runner-up Dylan Pereira (23/LUX), the racing team run by two-time Le Mans winner and FIA WEC world champion Timo Bernhard has acquired two talented young drivers for the German GT Championship, who already boast a wealth of experience at the wheel of the 911. The new ADAC GT Masters season kicks off from 14th to 16th May at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.

PR1/MATHIASEN MOTORSPORTS HUNGRY FOR A WIN AT THE TWELVE HOURS OF SEBRING

After a disappointing result at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the #52 Oreca 07 LMP2 will be at full speed in Sebring for the 69th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, with drivers Ben Keating, Mikkel Jensen and Scott Huffaker. After starting from the pole at the Rolex 24 in January, a series of mechanical issues and repairs from contact the team finally had to abandon the race 40 minutes before the checkered flag.
