North America’s largest Porsche market will increase by five this weekend as the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship travels to Southern California with a quintet of Porsche customer programs on the entry list. The five Porsche race cars entered in the Grand Prix of Long Beach matches the largest number of 911-based race cars to compete this season in the GTLM and GTD classes of the North American race series. The 100-minute race is tabbed for September 25 on the temporary street course through the Long Beach, California community. It marks the return of the street race after the event was put on a one-year hiatus in 2020.

CarBahn with Peregrine Racing is taking to the streets of Long Beach for the penultimate round of the IMSA WeatherTech Sprint Cup.

Flying Lizard Motorsports returned to the podium at Watkins Glen International once again this weekend, following a standout performance from driver Andy Wilzoch in the No. 460 Porsche 911 GT3 R in GT America powered by AWS. Wilzoch, who has recently returned to the series to finish out the season, earned two podium finishes after two exciting races in Upstate New York.

Team Redline Racing left their home event at Croft this past weekend (18/19 September) with a trio of Porsche Carrera Cup GB podium finishes to their name, including a brilliant overall victory thanks to Dan Cammish.

Hugo Sasse will compete in the Super Sports Car League alongside Lamborghini Junior Tim Zimmermann as the season reaches its frantic climax. This new driver pairing will debut in the #82 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO at the Sachsenring and contest all remaining events together.

One day after winning her second race in Fanatec World Challenge America powered by AWS competition, Taylor Hagler came up just shy of another podium in a spirited finish Sunday at Watkins Glen International.

DXDT Racing has closed out a successful SRO America race weekend, earning one pole position and three podium finishes in the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by aws and TC America powered by Skip Barber Racing School. 

While the K-PAX Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVOs have been exceedingly challenged into the later stages of the Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS Championship, the team has continued to produce results that strengthen its hold around the three major titles up for grabs. The No. 3 of Jordan Pepper and Andrea Caldarelli swept Rounds 9 & 10 of the championship from pole position at Watkins Glen International.

Consistency is the name of the game for Wright Motorsports. The John Wright-led team celebrated another rewarding sports car racing weekend in SRO America, earning two pole positions and three podiums across its two Porsche racing efforts at Watkins Glen International. Both Porsche 911 GT3 R race cars had strong performances in each of the races, producing another points-hauling weekend to maintain the championship lead Fred Poordad, Jan Heylen, and Charlie Luck have accumulated throughout the season. 

The #37 Oreca 07 crew of Alexandre Coigny, Nicolas Lapierre and Charles Milesi took a dominant victory in the LMP2 Pro-Am class at the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, after Milesi took the overall pole position on his debut for COOL Racing. The result moves the team up to second in the Pro-Am standings.

Porsche Carrera Cup

United Autosports have had a mixed weekend at Spa Francorchamps this weekend for the penultimate round of the 2021 European Le Mans Series, which included a podium finish for their LMP3 team and a full chassis rebuild overnight for their LMP2 team.

In the sixth event of the 2021 DTM season, Mercedes-AMG Team WINWARD secured the third win for Mercedes-AMG this year. Driving the car with starting number 22, Lucas Auer (AUT) achieved a commanding lights-to-flag victory at TT-Circuit Assen on Sunday. In the action-packed first race on Saturday, Mercedes-AMG Team HRT’s Maximilian Götz (GER) scored valuable championship points by finishing fourth. In the manufacturers’ standings, Mercedes-AMG extended its lead and is in front with a comfortable points’ margin.

Having moved to the top of the DTM standings after Race-1, Liam Lawson extended his championship lead with second place in Race-2 at Assen. A quick Alex Albon finished fifth.

Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.), Christian Ried (Germany), and Matt Campbell (Australia) finished seventh in today’s running of the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) race at the Spa-Francorchamps.

James Swift takes his second win of the weekend in the Trofeo Pirelli class, with Graham de Zille winning in the Coppa Shell in a thrilling race at Silverstone.
