Mercedes-AMG Motorsport DTM Team presents six car designs for the 2017 DTM
- Uniform design for all Mercedes-AMG Motorsport works teams with same design elements as of the start of the 2017 motor racing season
- What’s known as ‘digital flow’ will be visible on the sides of all six DTM racing cars and be part of a common design both on and off the track
- Same basic look for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport DTM and Formula One cars
New rules, new cars and new designs. The Mercedes-AMG Motorsport DTM Team has presented its six new vehicle designs for the upcoming DTM season just in time for the start of the last round of testing before the season opener in early May.
The new design features ‘digital flow’ and can be seen on the sides of all the cars. All Mercedes-AMG Motorsport works teams will share this common design element as of this season.
Team captain Gary Paffett will line up this year in a silver Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM and Robert Wickens in an anthracite version, both sporting Petronas-green digital flow design elements on the sides of the car. Austrian driver Lucas Auer and newcomer Edoardo Mortara will join the hunt for points as the Pink Panthers in their two BWT Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM racing cars.
The cars of DTM returnee Maro Engel and 2010 DTM Champion Paul Di Resta will both have an orange digital flow. Engel will line up in the silver and anthracite SILBERPFEIL Energy Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM for 2017 while Di Resta will be in the white TV Spielfilm Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM.
This new design language is to be found not just on the racing cars driven by the six Mercedes-AMG Motorsport DTM drivers but will also feature on the driver’s overalls, team trucks, pit walls and in many more places.
The basic design of the DTM cars will be the same this season as for the Formula One Silver Arrows of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. The F1 W08 Hybrid EQ Power+ also features the distinctive electric blue airflow design from the front wing to the ends of the side pods. This distinguishing characteristic was taken from the ‘ electro’ look of the Concept EQ launched last year.
