“Domination in TaG Cadet Rookie and multiple podiums throughout all classes”
In the final round of the California Pro Kart Challenge, Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) and P1 Engines powered competitors would travel to the temporary street circuit in Lancaster, California. Taking part in the annual Lancaster Grand Prix, P1 Engines would build upon their already impressive resume adding race wins, podiums and championships.
“I would like to thank all of my teams and customers for a successful Pro Kart Challenge campaign,” explained P1 Engines Owner Jesus Vasquez. “With multiple wins and podiums throughout the season, we will now shift our focus to the SuperNationals in Las Vegas.”
After a great qualifying effort and driving forward to win the TaG Cadet heat, P1 Engines driver Oliver Calvo looked poised to claim the main event victory. After leading the majority of the laps but falling back late in the race, Calvo made a bid for the lead on the last straightaway before being forced into the barriers. Limping his way across the finish line, Calvo ended his weekend in the ninth position and secured a third place result in the overall series championship.
Thomas Mejia ran with Calvo in the top-three throughout the event weekend but contact would hold him from showing his true speed. Claiming a seventh place finish in the weekend’s final, Mejia would finish fourth in the title chase. Daniel Inzunza showed top-five pace in Lancaster and took advantage of key situations in the main event to stand on the podium in the third position. Marcus Rodrigues and Jace Gessel finished fourth and sixth respectively making it five P1 Engines powered drivers in the top-ten.
P1 Engines would dominate the TaG Cadet Rookie class taking all three podium positions for the third event weekend in a row. Adien Kempf grabbed the pole position and remained in the top-five through the heat races before contact in the main event forced him to retire. After the final points were tabulated, Kempf would end the season long championship chase in the second position.
George Diamkoumopoulos started his weekend off strong with a third place effort in qualifying. Remaining consistent through the heat races, the young up and coming driver drove to the front in the main event and secured the checkered flag. Along with the victory, Diamkoumopoulos topped the blocks in the TaG Cadet Rookie class championship.
Bianca Bustamante qualified her P1 Engines powered ride in the second position and remained steady throughout the day ending the main event on the second step of the podium. Alexander Diakoumopoulos secured an inside row four starting position after qualifying and drove forward in the heats to finish fourth and second respectively. When the final checkered flag had flown in the main event, Alexander would end his weekend in the third position. Brayden Perry and Bryce Stevens finished sixth and eighth respectively making it another five P1 Engines supported drivers in the top-ten. Stevens would secure a third place podium result in the Pro Kart Challenge championship.
Dante Yu was the driver to beat in TaG Junior and showed his true speed in heat two driving from last on the grid to a third place finish scoring the fastest lap of the weekend. Leading the main event, Yu was driven over by an over-aggressive driver forcing him to retire from the race. Colby Dubato would add another podium for P1 Engines coming home in third while Mexican driver Sebastian Alvarez would cross the line fifth before a post race penalty relegated him back to P8. Gary Lyles had a great showing throughout the Streets of Lancaster weekend running speeds similar to the top drivers in the class but contact in the main event would see his weekend end early.
In the ultra-competitive TaG Senior class, Austin Elliott would run in the third position throughout the weekend ending the championship with a solid second place effort. Nick Ramirez struggled early in Lancaster but managed to drive through the field to a second place result and fourth place finish in the championship battle. Chris England would pace the top five on the temporary circuit ending his weekend with a solid seventh place result and a fifth place finish in the championship. Driver turned tuner turned driver again Wesley Boswell would show his skills with a fifth place finish making it four of the top seven powered by P1 Engines.
Vasquez continued, “I would like to congratulate Christian Brooks on his championship in the TaG Senior class after utilizing P1 Engines for the first four races in the championship and securing two wins, a second and a sixth. Congrats Christian!”
