Euro Max and Super One champion will spend three days with iconic Ferrari F1 team in Italy
If you are a young racing driver and want to become a professional, your dream is to enter Formula One. Not only that, it is to drive for the Prancing Horse, better known as Scuderia Ferrari. For Junior Max star 15-year old Jack McCarthy, that chance has become a reality far, far sooner than he expected.
Fresh from winning the national Super One and Euro Max Challenge Junior Rotax championships, Jack has been invited by Banco Santander to attend the Ferrari Driver Academy, at Maranello.
On Monday 19th October, the Strawberry Racing driver will become one of a select quartet to undergo three days of special training and assessments at Scuderia Ferrari’s HQ.
Jack and his fellow Grand Prix aspirants will be put through their paces in a number of physical, psychological and medical tests. There will also be sessions in Scuderia Ferrari’s simulator before spending a full day at the team’s own test circuit, Fiorano. Here, the teenager will be taught how to set the car up to his driving style and the track conditions, whilst also learning how to form a partnership with his engineers to get the maximum from a Formula 4 car and himself.
Whilst at Maranello, Jack will also be given privileged access to the Grand Prix team’s factory, the Ferrari Museum and Gestione Sportiva (the company’s racing division) departments.
This sixth annual Ferrari Driver Academy is the product of Banco Santander’s partnership with the most successful and decorated team in Formula One history and reflects their joint commitment to supporting and nurturing the brightest motorsport talent.
Jack says: “I’m really excited. Just to be invited as a guest and go to the factory is an honour but to also be able to drive a Scuderia Ferrari-prepared racing car around the Fiorano circuit, in the wheeltracks of some of the true greats of F1, is a dream come true. I would like to thank Scuderia Ferrari and Banco Santander for this unique opportunity and I intend to fully repay their generosity and faith in me.”
