With the snow melted and spring on its way, karting action has now started in Ontario. The opening round of the 2016 Canadian Karting Challenge (CKC) is set for this Sunday, May 1, with Innisfil Kart Club (IKC) on track Saturday, April 30, both at the fun and family-friendly Innsifil Indy kart track.
Round #1 will run the popular “Launi MindBender Uphill” layout. The layout can be viewed on the CKC website under the Schedule section. Class information is also available here.
“We are excited to get the 2016 CKC season underway,” states Innisfil’s Tony Launi. “There are some amazing prizes up for grabs including SuperNationals packages and cash for championship podium finishers at the conclusion of the 2016 series.”
For the 2016 CKC, both the Jr. 125cc Shifter and Sr. 125cc Shifter class champions will win a ride to the 2016 Superkarts! USA SuperNationals in Las Vegas, Nevada. No cash value or substitutions will be allowed with this prize. Additionally, cash prizes will be awarded to CKC class points champions following the six round series (excluding Jr. and Sr. Shifter classes) with $500 going to 1st, $300 to 2nd and $200 to 3rd for each class, provided entries are met.
“The snack bar is open and we are now offering pizza on the menu,” continues Launi. “Everyone is welcome, and we look forward to seeing you all. Let’s have fun and enjoy the season!”
