Stan Pex obtained a spectacular victory in the last race of the International season Rotax in Senior at the Adria Karting Raceway. Good performance also for Van der Laan who set the pole position. Brito just missed out on getting the podium in DD2.
Spectacle did not go missing at the circuit Adria Karting Raceway in the last International round of Rotax ahead of the Grand Finals that will take place in Portimao. The unique round of the Rotax Max International Open was “inflamed” mainly by Stan Pex, who has put in a stunning performance in the Final of Rotax Senior on CRG chassis.STAN PEX EMERGING FROM SENIOR
Stan Pex, the younger brother of CRG World Champion Jorrit Pex, obtained the victory in the closing meters of the race in Adria. The epilogue of the final lap of the race has been really exciting as Stan Pex recovered from the eighth place of the starting grid, taking his remaining two rivals only a few meters to the flag!
Stan Pex has been assisted by a particularly quick CRG KT2 chassis that allowed the driver to confirm himself among the absolute quickest after a troubled beginning, as he saw his qualifying times canceled due to a problem in the fitting of the rear tyres. In the heats Stan Pex recovered from the last position up to P23. The CRG driver kept his momentum in the Prefinal and gained position after position up to the eighth place. Stan Pex put in his masterpiece in the Final though. He first installed himself in P3 and then claimed the victory in the final lap, getting the most of the infighting among his final two rivals.
The Spanish driver of CRG Mauricio van der Laan also put in a great performance in Senior, as he posted the pole position in qualifying. In the melee of the heats the Spaniard lost some positions though, and in the Prefinal he closed 12th due also to some contacts. In the Final Mauricio van der Laan managed to slide in the leading group closing with a good P8.MEYER SHINING IN JUNIOR
The Spanish Kilian Meyer has been shining among CRG drivers of Rotax Junior, ending 15th in the Final. The Israeli Ido Cohen could not get through the qualifying heats stage instead. The Junior Final was won by the Austrian Nicolas Schoell.
GREAT PERFORMANCE FOR JOSE BRITO IN DD2CRG driver Jose Brito run a great DD2 race. He had to recover from a problem experienced in qualifying, climbed all the way to P10 in the heats, and then crossed the Prefinal’s finish line in fifth place. In the Final, he has been slowed down in the heat of the start, but then put in a great comeback managing to close in on the leading four drivers. Brito eventually had an incident while attempting an overtaking move for P3 and had to settle for P19. He scored the fastest lap of the race though. The Japanese driverRiki Tanioka has been racing in DD2 Master with CRG ending eighth in the category. The victory in DD2 went to the Swede Andreas Backman.
