Second European event of 2016 sees talent finish 14th overall
Anthony Gangi Jr. continued his European campaign with a 14th place result at the 21st Winter Cup
Brookville, New York – February 29, 2016 – Continuing his European campaign in 2016, Anthony Gangi Jr. participated in the opening of the international season, the 21st Winter Cup, at the South Garda Karting facility in Lonato, Italy. After a strong performance in his debut, the rising talent may not have had the weekend he hoped for, but he still showed talent and promise at the premier event.
The three-day event at the newly redesigned 1200m South Garda track began with Gangi Jr. starting 22nd in a field of 40 drivers. Three heats then ensued for Anthony Gangi Jr., with results of 16th, 11th and 17th putting him 13th on the grid for the prefinal race.
In good position to further advance for the final, Gangi Jr. made contact with another kart in the prefinal, which put him back to 24th in the field of 32 karts. Undeterred, the Ward Racing/Tony Kart pilot drove back to finish 14th in the final race and was one of the biggest movers in his division – OK Senior.

“After being taken out in the prefinal while running in the tenth position, I knew I had some ground to make up in the final,” explains Gangi Jr. “I was able to close out the Winter Cup with a 14th place result. This week wasn’t as good as I hoped, but I was able to make improvements. As long as I keep improving, I will be one step closer to winning. Next on the schedule for Anthony Gangi Jr. is the first round of the WSK Super Master Series, set for March 2-4 in Castelletto, Italy.
