With the end of the first event of the WSK Super Master Series, three weeks of intense work at the Adria Karting Raceway are coming to an end. The Birel ART Racing Team will be able to return to its base in Lissone to use all the data collected and prepare for the rest of the season. The last race weekend was particularly challenging for both men and machines due to persistent rain and very low temperatures. Good performances have been achieved in all categories despite particularly difficult conditions, and the team is very motivated to continue in the same way.
It was far from the ideal weather for karting this weekend at Adria. It is extremely rare not to use slick tyres throughout an event as was the case here. More than the rain itself, the continual changes of grip and the cold of the beginning of February complicated the work for the technicians and drivers at the beginning of the season.
“We had the satisfaction of being competitive in both OK-Junior, OK and KZ2,” declared Rickard Kaell Franchini, the head of the competition team. “In an important phase of structuring and development like we are in now, these first good performances are important. Of course, a renowned brand like Birel ART aims above all for victory, but at this stage of the season we already have confirmation that we are working in the right direction. Thanks to the very productive last few weeks, we will be able to have new developments as of the Winter Cup.”
In this first meeting of the WSK Super Master Series of 2017, the young Briton Dexter Patterson showed excellent potential while he was racing in only his second race in OK-Junior. After setting the 4th fastest time during qualifying practice, he then won one of his four heats before crossing the finish line in the 4th place. Pietro Delli Guanti’s 9th place also confirmed the competitiveness of the equipment. Caio Collet has made a good start of the season in OK with an interesting 6th place under the chequered flag of the Final, while Rasmus Lindh had a good run with 13 places gained after a complicated start. Alexander Dahlberg and Marijn Kremers were also convincing in KZ2.
“I want to congratulate our drivers who braved these extreme conditions,” continued Rickard Kaell Franchini. “All of us would have preferred to have a dry run from time to time to put on the slicks, but each one courageously fulfilled his role. In these extreme conditions, it is truly regrettable that the numerous penalties for dropped spoilers too often affected the results, unrelated to bad behaviour on the track.
We will line up a team of seven drivers in less than two weeks at Lonato for the Winter Cup with Pietro Delli Guanti and Dexter Patterson in OK-Junior, Caio Collet, Rasmus Lindh and Australian newcomer Jace Matthews in OK and Felice Tiene and Riccardo Longhi in KZ2.”
Tre settimane ricche di insegnamenti ad Adria
Con la fine della prima prova della WSK Super Master, sono terminate anche tre settimane di lavoro intenso all’Adria Karting Raceway. Il Birel ART Racing Team tornerà al suo quartier generale di Lissone per analizzare tutti i dati raccolti e preparare il seguito della stagione. L’ultimo week-end di gare è stato particolarmente impegnativo per i kart, ma anche per gli uomini a causa di una forte pioggia e di temperature molto rigide. In tutte le categorie, le performance sono state ottime nonostante un contesto particolarmente difficile, ma il team è molto motivato a proseguire in questo senso.
In questo week-end ad Adria non c’era sicuramente il tempo ideale per delle gare di Kart. È raro che non si riescano a utilizzare gli pneumatici slick per tutto il week-end. Ma è stato così! Più della pioggia sono stati il continuo cambio di aderenza e il freddo di questi primi giorni di febbraio che hanno complicato il lavoro dei tecnici e dei piloti in questo inizio di stagione.
“Abbiamo avuto la soddisfazione di essere stati competitivi nella OK-Junior, nella OK e nella KZ2”, ha dichiarato il responsabile del team racing Rickard Kaell Franchini. “In una fase importante di strutturazione e sviluppo, come quella che stiamo affrontando ora, le prime buone performance sono importanti. Sicuramente un marchio così importante come Birel ART punta innanzitutto alla vittoria, ma a questo punto della stagione abbiamo già la conferma che stiamo lavorando nella giusta direzione. Grazie a queste ultime settimane, molto produttive, potremo disporre di nuovi sviluppi già a partire dalla Winter Cup ”.
In occasione del primo appuntamento della WSK Super Master Series 2017, il giovane inglese Dexter Patterson ha dimostrato un potenziale eccellente, anche se era solo alla sua seconda gara nella OK-Junior. Autore del quarto tempo in occasione delle prove di qualificazione, ha poi conquistato una delle quattro manche prima di tagliare il traguardo della finale in quarta posizione. Anche il nono posto in finale di Pietro Delli Guanti ha confermato la competitività del mezzo. Caio Collet ha iniziato bene la stagione nella OK con un interessante sesto posto in finale, mentre Rasmus Lindh ha realizzato una bella performance rimontando tredici posizioni dopo una partenza difficile. Anche Alexander Dahlberg e Marijn Kremers hanno convinto nella KZ2.
“Vorrei complimentarmi con i nostri piloti che hanno sfidato queste condizioni estreme” ha proseguito Rickard Kaell Franchini. “Avremmo tutti preferito avere ogni tanto la pista asciutta per poter montare gli slick, ma tutti hanno svolto il proprio ruolo coraggiosamente. In queste condizioni estreme è stato un peccato che le numerose penalità per spoiler staccato abbiano troppo spesso condizionato i risultati senza che ci fossero stati dei comportamenti scorretti in pista.
Tra poco meno di due settimane a Lonato, in occasione della Winter Cup, schiereremo una formazione di sette piloti con Pietro Delli Guanti e Dexter Patterson nella OK-Junior, Caio Collet, Rasmus Lindh e un nuovo arrivo australiano, Jace Matthews, nella OK e infine Felice Tiene e Riccardo Longhi nella KZ2 ”.
Trois semaines riches en enseignements à Adria
Avec la fin de la première épreuve de la WSK Super Master, ce sont trois semaines de travail intense sur l’Adria Karting Raceway qui s’achèvent. Le Birel ART Racing Team va pouvoir retrouver sa base à Lissone pour exploiter toutes les données collectées et préparer la suite de la saison. Le dernier week-end de course a été particulièrement éprouvant pour les machines comme pour les hommes à cause d’une pluie tenace et de températures très basses. De bonnes performances ont été réalisées dans toutes les catégories malgré un contexte spécialement difficile et l’équipe est très motivée pour continuer dans cette bonne voie.
C’était loin d’être le temps idéal pour faire du kart ce week-end à Adria. Il est extrêmement rare de ne pas utiliser les pneus slicks pendant toute une épreuve comme cela a été le cas. Plus encore que la pluie en elle-même, c’est le changement continuel d’adhérence et le froid de ce début février qui a compliqué le travail des techniciens et des pilotes en ce début de saison.
« Nous avons eu la satisfaction d’avoir été compétitifs à la fois en OK-Junior, en OK et en KZ2. » déclarait le responsable du team compétition Rickard Kaell Franchini. « Dans une phase importante de structuration et de développement comme nous vivons en ce moment, ces premières bonnes performances sont importantes. Bien sûr, une marque renommée comme Birel ART vise avant tout la victoire, mais à ce stade de la saison, nous avons avons déjà la confirmation que nous travaillons dans le bon sens. Grâce à ses dernières semaines très productives, nous pourrons disposer de nouvelles évolutions dès la Winter Cup. »
Lors de ce premier rendez-vous de la WSK Super Master Series 2017, le jeune Britannique Dexter Patterson a démontré un excellent potentiel alors qu’il disputait seulement sa 2e course en OK-Junior. Auteur du 4e temps lors des essais qualificatifs, il a ensuite remporté une de ses quatre manches avant de franchir la ligne d’arrivée de la finale au 4e rang. La 9e place finale de Pietro Delli Guanti confirmait également de la compétitivité du matériel. Caio Collet réalise un bon début de saison en OK avec une intéressante 6e place sous le drapeau à damier de la finale, tandis que Rasmus Lindh réussissait une belle course en reprenant pas moins de 13 places après un départ compliqué. Alexander Dahlberg et Marijn Kremers ont aussi été convaincants en KZ2.
« Je tiens à féliciter nos pilotes qui ont bravé ces conditions extrêmes. » poursuivait Rickard Kaell Franchini. « Nous aurions tous préféré bénéficier de temps en temps d’une piste sèche pour chausser les slicks, mais chacun a rempli courageusement son rôle. Dans ces conditions extrêmes, il est vraiment regrettable que les nombreuses pénalités pour spoiler décroché aient trop souvent influé sur les résultats, sans rapport avec des mauvais comportements en piste.
Nous allons aligner une formation de sept pilotes dans moins de deux semaines à Lonato pour la Winter Cup avec Pietro Delli Guanti et Dexter Patterson en OK-Junior, Caio Collet, Rasmus Lindh et un nouveau venu australien, Jace Matthews, en OK, puis Felice Tiene et Riccardo Longhi en KZ2. »
