THE ITALIAN ACI KARTING CHAMPIONSHIP IN CASTELLETTO WITH A RECORD PARTICIPATION OF 207 DRIVERS. FINALS ON SUNDAY LIVE ON TV
The ACI Italian Karting Championship highlighting its first protagonists at the Circuit 7 Laghi of Castelletto di Branduzzo in qualifying and in the 24 heats held on Saturday. Sunday April 17th: Finals of KZ2, 60 Mini, ACI Kart and ACI Kart Junior, OK Junior, Prodriver Under and Prodriver Over.
The first round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship and Italian Prodriver Championship are putting in a great spectacle at the circuit 7 Laghi of Castelletto di Branduzzo. A total of 207 drivers – Italian record in the recent years marking a sensible increase compared to the last year – and seven categories made it to the track for this round: excellence is represented by KZ2 with 55 driver and by 60 Mini with 70 drivers.
Very positive presence also in the new ACI Kart and ACI Kart Junior featuring Iame X30 engine, and in the two Prodriver Under (for drivers up to 35 yrs) and Over (over 35 years) that are running their first of the three rounds.
In qualifying held in the morning and in the high number of heats in the afternoon (24 races have been needed to decide the finalists of the double finals on Sunday), spectacle on track did not go missing. A lot of drivers can aim to the victory as all categories featured high competitiveness.
KZ2. A lot of drivers have been shining in KZ2, mainly Francesco Celenta (Formula K-Tm) who was the quickest in qualifying and pulled three wins in the heats, but the exiting champion Riccardo Longhi (CRG-Tm) matched his competitiveness, even if Celenta had the best of Longhi in the last heat of the day. The young Tommaso Mosca (Maranello-Tm) also came to the fore takign one win, as did the two times Italian champion Alessandro Giulietti (TB Kart-Tm), Massimo Mazzali (Croc-Tm), Giuseppe Palomba (Croc-Modena), Alessio Baldi (CRG-Tm), Matteo Viganò (Top Kart-Parilla) and Mirko Torsellini (Exprit-Tm), the latter was hit by bad luck in one heat when he broke the gear lever.
60 MINI. Category 60 Mini also had several protagonists, starting from Gabriele Minì (Energy-Tm), who won 4 heats, Nicolò Cuman (Tony Kart-Tm) who secured three heats and then a victory each went to the French Evann Mallet (CRG-Tm), to the Czech Roman Stanek (Energy-Iame) and to Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart-Vortex).
OK JUNIOR. The victory in the two heats of OK Junior went to Marzio Moretti (Exprit-Vortex) and Alessandro Giardelli (Tony Kart-Tm), as the latter also secured the pole position in qualifying. The second place of the classification is occupied by Nicolò Genisi (Formula K-Tm) though as he secured two second places.
125 ACI KART. In 125 ACI Kart, category employing Iame engines, the victory of both heats went to Alessandro Di Cori (Tony Kart-Iame),while poleman Matteo Roccadelli (Evokart-Iame) won the first heat of 125 ACI Kart Junior (reserved to 11 yrs old drivers) and Giulio De Amicis (Tecno-Iame) the second.
PRODRIVER UNDER. Prodriver Under had a packed starting grid comprising 34 drivers. Federico Centioni (EKS-Tm) got the victory in both heats, leading poleman Filippo D’Attanasio (Tony Kart-Tm) in the first and Denis Tuia (Intrepid-Tm) in the second.
PRODRIVER OVER. In Prodriver Over, the first heat was won by Paolo Scagnelli (Energy-Tm) from Davide Colombo (CRG-Tm), while the victory of the second heat went Pasquale Feola’s ways (CRG-Tm) as Scagnelli was second. The pole position was set by Luca Giannecchini (Parolin-Tm) who had to retire from the first heat.
LIVE COVERAGE ON AUTOMOTOTV. Second chance races will define the final 6 places of the starting grid of KZ2 and 60 Mini for Race-1. Finals one will start from local 10,20, with live TV coverage on AutomotoTV (Sky 148) and the commentary by Fiammetta Laguidara. The second round of Finals will begin at 14.00.
