“A strong squad looks for podiums and race wins in Arizona”
After having only a few select competitors at the first round of the 2016 Rotax Challenge of the Americas in Tucson, Arizona, Energy Kart USA will bring a talented five driver squad to Phoenix this coming weekend to challenge for race wins and podium results at the PKRA facility in Glendale, Arizona.
Leading the charge in Shifter Senior will be Energy Kart Team driver Sabre’ Cook as she will get back in the seat after a terrific run in November at the US Open of as Las Vegas finale where she battled the world’s best to the very end for the win, only to come up a little short. Sabre’ will be highlighting her new sponsors Element Energy Advisors, Viceroy Resorts, Bell Helmets, AIM Sports, Brett King Design and many others as the looks to take the win aboard her Energy Kart Eclipse.
Also competing in Shifter Senior will be Utah’s Colby Yardley. Showing some very impressive speed in Tucson qualifying and an impressive second in Saturday’s competition, Colby will be a contender as he gets more comfortable in his new Energy Kart chassis. Look for Yardley and Cook to be at the pointy end of the field all weekend long.
Entering the Master Shifter division will be two Colorado drivers in Hugh Templeman and Dave Conyers, both aboard their new Energy Karts. Templeman finished on the podium in the 2015 US Open championship battle securing a second place finish in the points standings and will look to start 2016 where he left off. Conyers has made the jump to the new Energy Kart blue and will be a contender right out of the gate in Phoenix.
In the Rotax Masters category, Perry Needham will again make his presence known as he competes on the new Energy Space chassis after showing great speed in Tucson. Feeding off the energy and experience of the other Energy Kart drivers in the program, Needham will be shooting for strong finishes to build on his results from the first round of the series.
