“Strong results during round two of FWT competition”
The second Vortex ROK weekend of the Sofina Foods Florida Winter Tour Presented by Fikse Wheels, held February 11-14 in Ocala brought success for BENIK drivers in the Micro ROK and Mini ROK classes. Always at the pointy end of the field throughout the weekend, BENIK podiums were once again plentiful in the first event weekend of 2016 that saw no rain in the forecast.
In Vortex Micro ROK, BENIK driver Oliver Denny dominated the weekend, qualifying on pole and going on to win all of his heat races and the prefinal. He started on pole for the final but had fallen to fifth place on the tenth lap. By the time the checkered flag fell, he had worked his way back through the field to take the top step on the podium. Teammate Freddie Slater, only seven years old and competing in his second ever race, started the final in 25th position. He drove through the field to finish third, setting the fastest lap in the process.
In Vortex Mini ROK, Team BENIK’s Tyler Maxson qualified on pole and started from the front in the final after winning the prefinal. Teammate Derek Carmenate started on the outside of the front row making it an all BENIK front row for the start of the final. After a tough race, Reece Gold and his BENIK chassis would take the third step on the podium in the main event. James Egozi continues his improvement week in and week out with an impressive fifth place finish

Team BENIK will now shift their focus to this weekend’s second round of the Florida Winter Tour Rotax weekend before traveling south to Palm Beach Karting for the opening weekend of the ROK Cup USA program.
