“Drivers win in X30 Junior, Senior and Masters”
P1 Engines swept the field in X30 competition at Buttonwillow Raceway during the first round of SKUSA Pro Kart Challenge competition, held February 5-6 in Buttonwillow, California.
The weekend was Tomas Mejia’s first race in the junior class, but it didn’t seem to faze him. He ran in the top-five throughout the weekend and ran second in the main until the last lap. He would go on to finish fifth. Oliver Calvo also adjusted quickly to competition at the junior level. He led parts of his heat race but would finish his day in sixth.
Dante Yu qualified fourth and fell back in the heats from race contact. In the main, he managed to take the lead on lap one, and he never looked back, winning by over four seconds.
In X30 Senior, Nick Ramirez ran top-five all weekend and finished third in the main. Colby Dubato made the move to the senior class and ran as high as fourth on his debut weekend, finishing the final in seventh place. Justice Lepe got a flat in qualifying and had to start his heats from the back. In the final, he worked his way into the top-ten and finished eighth.
David Vasquez ran top-five all weekend. In the final, he was finally able to take the lead. The last lap was a scramble, and he fell back as far as fourth place, but at the end, he would cross the line first to take home the win.
In X30 Masters, Mike Rolison dominated every session of the day, taking the win in each. Tim Meyer would follow him across the line in the final, bringing home a 1-2 finish for P1 drivers. Carlos Calderon also ran top-five throughout the weekend and finished fifth in the final.
“We are proud of the results of the drivers running with P1 Engines,” said Jesus Vasquez, owner of P1. “I’m happy to provide them with engines that are capable of winning every weekend.”
