Alex Job Racing to Field Sebastian Landy in IMSA Porsche Cup
Alex Job Racing will field the No.49 Porsche 997 GT for Sebastian Landy (Great Falls, Va.) for the 2017 IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama starting with this weekend’s opening race at Sebring International Raceway.
Landy is a Porsche standout already, having placed second last year in the Gold category on the strength of running 16 races, where he amassed 10 wins, 14 podiums and five pole positions to finish the season second in the points standings. In 2017 Landy will be moving up to the ultra-competitive Platinum Class in his No. 49 Porsche 997 GT3 Cup car.
“Moving up to the Platinum Championship this year was always a goal of mine and I know it is going to be a challenge,” Landy said. “With a brand new Porsche 997 GT3 Cup car for 2017, the most important part of the off-season for me has been getting as much time in the new car as possible so we can start the year off in the right way.
“I think the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA has always had some of the fiercest competition in the country and I don’t think this year will be any different. Maybe even more so, because of the new car. I think that each of the teams and their drivers will be ready to go and put on a show this year. At the end of the day, I’m focused on my own job and doing the best I can.”
Landy brings a lot of miles around Sebring.
“I have quite a bit of history at Sebring,” he continued. “I’ve actually finished on the podium in every series that I’ve raced there and Sebring was where I had my first win in the Porsche 997 GT3 Cup in 2015. I’m very excited to be with Alex Job Racing this year. They’re an organization with such an incredible history. I’ve always had a great deal of respect for them. Having the opportunity to race for Alex is something that I never thought would happen and I’m both very proud to be a part of the team this season and ready to come out firing at Sebring!”
“Sebastian has proven his speed in the Porsche in the Gold category last year,” Job said. “He is a committed young man and shows a lot of enthusiasm toward racing and winning. We expect to be a contender for the Platinum Class championship this year and it all starts at Sebring this week.”
Race one of the IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama from Sebring will run at 5:45 p.m. ET Thursday with race two taking the green on Friday at 11:55 a.m.
