It’s my Aston Martin Racing debut this weekend in the opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship with the 6 Hours of Spa, and to say I’m excited about it would be a massive understatement.
The Super Season of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) kicks off this weekend. The championship will last more than a year, concluding in about 13 months with the 2019 Le Mans 24 Hours. Next year’s proceedings will open with a race at Sebring, followed by the second race at Spa-Francorchamps in May and the Le Mans 24 Hours in June.
The Six Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (BEL) on Saturday are the season opener in the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) for the new BMW M8 GTE. The entire BMW M Motorsport team, BMW Team MTEK and the BMW WEC drivers have completed an intensive and strenuous programme. The focus was not just on the development of the new BMW M8 GTE – the people behind the machine have also been hard at work, meticulously preparing for the FIA WEC entry.
