On 22nd and 23rd April, two 60-minute races in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben get the new ADAC GT Masters season underway. Including the season finale at Hockenheimring on 23rd October, the prestigious sprint race championship will be in action again at seven circuits in Germany, Austria and The Netherlands. Like in the previous year, Mercedes-AMG will be represented by three Customer Racing Teams. MANN-FILTER Team LANDGRAF is expanding its involvement by an additional car and will be running two Mercedes-AMG GT3s in the championship in 2022. Spanish outfit Madpanda Motorsport and the newly formed Drago Racing Team ZvO will be making their respective debuts in GT Masters during the opening round in the Saxony-Anhalt region. Drago Racing Team ZvO will hit the track with two Mercedes-AMG GT3s, one of them will compete as a performance car under the name Mercedes-AMG Team ZvO.

Back in March I was at Silverstone to see and photograph the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 cars. It’s always enjoyable and close racing.

The ADAC GT Masters and its support series on the same platform are already entering their 16th season in 2022. Audi Sport customer racing has been involved in the top-class GT3 series since the beginning of the customer racing program and has already won it five times with its teams, most recently last year. With the ADAC Racing Weekend there is a second attractive motorsport stage of the Munich-based automobile club. No fewer than ten GT race cars with the four rings are competing in the current season.

Porsche Carrera Cup GB, the fastest single marque GT racing championship in the UK, enters its milestone 20th season in 2022 with a capacity grid packed with racing talent. Adding to the excitement, the 2022 season welcomes the latest generation of 911 racing car – the 510 hp ‘Type 992’ 911 GT3 Cup. 2022 also marks the arrival of Porsche Carrera Cup GB 2022 / 2023 Junior Adam Smalley who follows in the footsteps of 2020 / 2021 Junior and 2020 champion, Harry King.

Audi Sport customer racing is concentrating its efforts on two teams in the sporting competition for the sixth overall victory at the Nürburgring 24 Hours. Audi Sport Team Car Collection and Audi Sport Team Car Collection will each field an Audi R8 LMS on behalf of the brand from May 25 to 29. In addition, private GT3 race cars strengthen the line-up.

After missing the Long Beach Grand Prix due to a tire blowout in the team’s race transporter, professional sports car racing team NTE/SSR is back on track and ready to resume the 2022 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship next week at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The Lamborghini racing team will contest in their third event of the year, racing the No. 42 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo with drivers Jaden Conwright and Marco Holzer.

Jack Aitken enjoyed an outstanding debut in prototype sportscar racing as he scored victory in the Pro/Am class and finished sixth overall in the 4 Hours of Le Castellet.

Circuit Paul Ricard front-row qualifier Ahmad Al Harthy didn’t have the opportunity to battle as intended for an opening round GTE podium during the European Le Mans Series curtain-raiser on Sunday, 17th April, when team-mate Sam De Haan was barged into retirement on the very first lap.

Flying Lizard returned to the Pirelli GT4 America and GT America powered by AWS this weekend at Sonoma Raceway, starting the new season off with another podium finish at their home track. The Sonoma-based squad raced a pair of Aston Martin Vantage GT4 cars in the two series with team newcomers Elias Sabo and Andy Lee, competing in four races on Saturday and Sunday.

If there was a word Andrea Caldarelli wanted to use to describe the Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS season-opener at Sonoma Raceway, he hoped it was going to be “fun.” Caldarelli, who longs for the fierce battles that the series offers, got what he asked for – a highly heated finale, where he helped the team chase down a sweep of the first two rounds.

Here we go! After the shortest winter break so far, the ADAC GT Masters returns to action from 22nd to 24th April at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben near Magdeburg. The high-class field of super sports cars in the German GT Masters will kick off season 16 with a premiere: The ADAC GT Masters will be the first German racing series to use an environmentally-friendly fuel in the 600-hp cars from five different manufacturers. In doing so, the ADAC GT Masters is taking on a pioneering role. 

The opening round of the 2022 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series, the OKAYAMA GT 300km RACE took place on April 17th the Okayama International Circuit (one lap 3,703m×82laps). Over the circuit were clear skies and on the track the competition was intense. Both in the GT500 class race and the GT300 class the winners were the same as last year, with the No. 14 ENEOS X PRIME GR Supra (Kazuya Oshima/Kenta Yamashita) winning the GT500 race and the No. 56 REALIZE NISSAN MECHANIC CHALLENGE GT-R victorious in the GT300 class.

United Autosports posted 10th (#32), 13th (#23), 16th (#22) and 25th (#2) in the 31-car entry for the opening round of the Michelin Le Mans Cup at Paul Ricard (16 Apr). United’s LMP3 quartet started the 110mins race aiming to improve on third place finishes achieved in both 2020 & ‘21 at the high-speed venue in Southern France.

European Le Mans Series debutant Ahmad Al Harthy produced an absolutely fantastic performance during the first qualifying session of the 2022 season at Circuit Paul Ricard on Saturday, 16th April, to secure a front-row start in the GTE class for today’s four-hour race in the south of France.

Nestled deep in the rolling hills of the Northern California countryside is home. Sonoma Raceway has been the site and stardom for a lot of K-PAX Racing triumphs over the years, and while the scenic hillside casts a shadow over the course, the team continues to reach new heights toward an even brighter future. The team experienced just that during the opening round of the 2022 Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS season, as it stood tall on the top step of the podium – victorious.

After a week of pre-season testing, followed by the official Le Mans Cup Prologue, United Autosports are eagerly looking forward for the season opener to get underway at Paul Ricard tomorrow afternoon (16 Apr).

2020 European Le Mans Series LMP2 and LMP3 champions United Autosports begin its double title assault in this year’s championship at Paul Ricard on Sunday (17 Apr).

Guy Cosmo will kick off his 2022 SRO campaign this weekend as he joins Chris Cagnazzi in a Mercedes-AMG fielded by Steve Cameron. The program is slated to compete in selected SRO GT4 America SprintX Series races, beginning with this weekend’s season-opener at Sonoma Raceway.

Just a few days after the team’s hard-charging performance at the Grand Prix of Long Beach in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Porsche customer racing team Wright Motorsports continues the April California swing with the start of the SRO America season opener at Sonoma Raceway. Wright Motorsports will contest the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS in the No. 45 Porsche 911 GT3 R and the GT America powered by AWS in the No. 30 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.

Rounds one and two of the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS and the No. 63 and No. 08 DXDT Racing Mercedes AMG GT3 cars are prepared and ready to get the 2022 season started. Sonoma Raceway will host the season-opening doubleheader event, and DXDT Racing will debut two new lineups in the Pro/Am class. As previously announced, David Askew and Dirk Mueller will partner up in the No. 63 Mercedes AMG GT3, and Scott Smithson and Bryan Sellers will race together in the No. 08 Mercedes AMG GT3.
