TOYOTA GAZOO RACING FASTEST ON WEC’S FUJI RETURN

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing’s challenge for home victory got underway with an intense and productive first day of practice for the 6 Hours of Fuji as the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) returned to Japan for the first time since 2019. 

SSR PERFORMANCE IS READY FOR THE NEXT DTM CHALLENGE

Laurens Vanthoor (BEL) and Dennis Olsen (NOR) are ready for the next challenge in the DTM. At Spa-Francorchamps, the two Porsche 911 GT3 R drivers will be chasing points. Olsen had recently celebrated the second place at the Nürburgring.

SHELDON VAN DER LINDE FOCUSED ON MAXIMUM DTM POINTS SCORE AT SPA

Three, two, one – DTM champion. This weekend (9-11 September), Spa-Francorchamps is the third to last fixture of the 2022 DTM season that has been really intense so far, the battle for the title is notably tightening up. As the DTM championship leader (110 points), Sheldon van der Linde doesn’t want to hear about that at present. “I am not focused on the championship, I simply want to score as many points as possible,” the 23-year-old South African from the Schubert Motorsport BMW team stated in the usual DTM press conference. René Rast (GER), who with the ABT Audi dropped back to fourth in the standings with 81 points behind Mirko Bortolotti (ITA, 89) with the GRT Lamborghini and Lucas Auer (AUT, 85) with the WINWARD Mercedes-AMG at Nürburgring most recently, on the other hand, wants to do everything to keep his chances of winning the title alive. “The goal is to score many points and to keep all the title rivals at bay.”

The factory squad aims to clinch its third GTE-Pro class win of the season in Japan and is eager to take another step towards claiming the world title. After recovering from an illness, Richard Lietz returns to the cockpit of the No. 91 Porsche 911 RSR.

SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS CHALLENGES FOR DTM STARS

La Source, Eau Rouge, Raidillon, Blanchimont – these are all parts of the Belgian Grand Prix circuit of Spa-Francorchamps that instill respect and a certain awe in every racing driver. They are not just famous, they are a real challenge for man and machine first and foremost. When DTM is staging the sixth round of its season in Belgium this weekend (9-11 September), the DTM stars are under pressure, too. Spa-Francorchamps is a circuit at which driving abilities and a healthy dose of courage count more than at most other race tracks. At 7.004 kilometres, the Ardennes roller coaster is also the longest track on the DTM calendar on which no other circuit has a difference in altitude of one hundred metres either.

THE BMW M HYBRID V8 TO ENTER THE NEXT PHASE OF TESTING IN THE USA

Since its roll-out on 25th July at Varano de‘ Melegari (ITA), the BMW M Hybrid V8 has got important kilometres under its belt during a number of tests at European racetracks. BMW M Motorsport engineers have obtained valuable basic data and sorted out any initial teething troubles. BMW M TEAM RLL FINISHES FIFTH IN GTD PRO AT VIR

The No. 25 BMW M Team RLL BMW M4 GT3 finished fifth in the GTD PRO class in today’s two-hour-and-forty-minute Michelin GT Challenge at VIR, the result not indicative of the team displaying a much more competitive day than shown in the last few rounds of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Connor De Phillippi and John Edwards completed 86 laps around the beautiful 3.27-mile, 18-turn VIRginia International Raceway, finishing 54 seconds behind the class winning Porsche 911 GT3R. Ultimately, a costly delay for a bad wheel nut on the final pit stop cost valuable seconds that extinguished a chance at the podium.

CALSONIC IMPUL Z SCORES A GRAND COME-FROM-BEHIND SUPER GT WIN AT SUZUKA

The FUJIMAKI GROUP SUZUKA GT 450km RACE, Round 5 of the 2022 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series took place at Suzuka Circuit (1 lap 5,807m) in Mie Prefecture on August 28 (Sun.).In the GT500 class, the No. 12 CALSONIC IMPUL Z (Kazuki Hiramine/Bertrand Baguette) started from the last position of 15th on the staring grid to charge ahead in magnificent style and take the win. In the GT300 class, the No. 4 GOODSMILE HATSUNE MIKU AMG (Nobuteru Taniguchi/Tatsuya Kataoka) executed a skillful race strategy to take its first win in five years.

WeatherTech Racing drivers Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill) and Jules Gounon (France) will start the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Michelin GT Challenge from the fifth row in GTD today.

THIRD PLACE START FOR PAUL MILLER RACING AT VIR

Madison Snow and the Paul Miller Racing team notched a second-row start for the Michelin GT Challenge at VIRginia International Raceway. 

BMW M TEAM RLL TO START FOURTH IN GTD PRO AT VIR

Connor De Phillippi qualified the No. 25 MOTUL BMW M Team RLL BMW M4 GT3 fourth in the GTD PRO class for tomorrow’s two-hour-and-forty-minute Michelin GT Challenge at VIR race. De Phillippi recorded a 1:44.791- minute lap around the 3.27-mile, 18-turn VIRginia International Raceway circuit. The Californian will share the car tomorrow with John Edwards. The pair stands fifth in GTD PRO class driver point standings with a season’s-best third place finish at Laguna Seca earlier this year.

THE FIRST SUPER GT POLE POSITION FOR THE NEW Z CAR GOES TO THE MOTUL AUTECH Z AT SUZUKA

The qualifying for the FUJIMAKI GROUP SUZUKA GT 450km RACE, Round 5 of the 2022 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series took place at Suzuka circuit (1 lap 5,807m) in Mie Prefecture on August 27 (Sat.). In the GT500 class, Quintarelli in the No. 23 MOTUL AUTECH Z (Tsugio Matsuda/Ronnie Quintarelli) took the first pole position for the new Nissan Z and his first since 2019. In the GT300 class, Okusa in the No. 10 TANAX GAINER GT-R (Ryuichiro Tomita/Riki Okusa/Yusuke Shiotsu) won the class pole position for the first time.
