B-QUIK JUNIORS SET TO DOUBLE UP IN TA2 THAILAND

As sports car racing begins to kick off the 2019 race season across North America, Nicolai Elghanayan has announced his return to the SRO Motorsports GT4 America series, formally the Pirelli World Challenge GTS class. Racing the No. 71 KTM X-Bow with MarcoPolo Motorsports, Elghanayan will run the full sprint season, consisting of eight double header race weekends.

SALVADOR DURAN JOINS JAGUAR I-PACE ETROPHY AS MEXICO CITY VIP DRIVER

Former Formula E driver Salvador Durán will return to his home track this weekend as the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY VIP driver.  The Mexican, who raced in season one and two of the electric street racing series, completes the twelve car grid for the second round of the ten race series.

BMW works driver Alessandro Zanardi (ITA) attracted global attention with his start at the 24 Hours of Daytona (USA) in the BMW M8 GTE. The Italian was the focus of reporting all over the world and was the fans’ favourite at Daytona. Run by BMW Team RLL, the #24 BMW M8 GTE that Zanardi shared with John Edwards (USA), Jesse Krohn (FIN) and Chaz Mostert (AUS), had been modified with a special hand-operated braking system by BMW M Motorsport. After several minor set-backs in the race, the quartet came home ninth in the GTLM class. Victory went to the sister car, the #25 BMW M8 GTE, with Connor De Phillippi (USA), Augusto Farfus (BRA), Philipp Eng (AUT) and Colton Herta (USA) at the wheel. ERIK JOHANSSON IS THE NEW BMW MOTORSPORT JUNIOR FOR 2019

After an intensive three-day selection procedure, the decision has been made: Erik Johansson (SWE) has been accepted onto the 2019 BMW Motorsport Junior Programme. The 22-year-old former BMW Customer Racing driver triumphed over three other candidates in Wednesday’s shoot-out in the BMW Motorsport simulator. As a reward, a substantial part of his training programme will see him contest the entire coming season of the Italian GT Championship at the wheel of the BMW Team Italia BMW M6 GT3. On Monday and Tuesday, 16 candidates underwent a comprehensive programme of physical, mental and communication tests. The top four participants then went through to the simulator shoot-out.
